Fox Mulder 0 Posted November 22, 2001 Is it possible do define a transparent color in a squad logo ? And what x*y size is possible for squad logos ? At the moment i use a 256x256 logo and it works, but is it possible to use larger logos and logos with unequal x and y values ? I never find a site with usefull information about squad logos, so i ask here. fox
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 22, 2001 No, transparency is not possible at this time. They have to be square, non-progressive bitmaps up to 256x256 in size.

Fox Mulder 0 Posted November 22, 2001 RN Malboeuf i don't find any Squad-xml.zip or any other information about the aquad logo specs on your website. What is the link to this ? fox
ALDEGA 0 Posted November 22, 2001 transparancy IS possible. just download TexView (official texture tool from BIS) then: -create a squad logo -create an alpha channel -save in .tga format -open with texview and save -remember to update the filename in your squad.xml (and ofcourse upload the file) (Edited by ALDEGA at 12:04 am on Nov. 23, 2001)
Fox Mulder 0 Posted November 23, 2001 tnx ALDEGA You are my lifesaver. It works great, the logo is now in paa format and with transparency it looks like it was all the time on the vehicle, no more squad edges in the logo. fox
-Puma- 2 Posted November 23, 2001 Would it not be great to have the squad logo on an armpach, on infantry soldiers.

DavieCrock 0 Posted May 4, 2002 Aldega: What do you mean by "alpha channel"? Â I can't seem to find one in my graphics software to "open". Â Please give me some help on this. Thanks, Davie
PitViper 0 Posted May 4, 2002 13th MEU logo is circular with transparency. I made it
DavieCrock 0 Posted May 5, 2002 But how do you make it? What graphics program(s) will allow this "alpha channel" thing? Â What is an alpha channel? And how do I open one? Thanks, Davie
PitViper 0 Posted May 5, 2002 I used Photoshop and went to the "channels" dialog. Â There I did an "add channel" and it become the alpha channel. Â I then painted in a black and white pic of the outline. I'll post some pics of what it looks like doing it if you want. I then ran that through the texture tool and named it a .paa I think. DavieCrock 0 Posted May 7, 2002 PitViper: Again, would you mind posting some of the screen shots we discussed above. Also, where is a good place to purchace Adobe Photoshop? Every where I look, it is over 700 US dollars!!! (too much for my blood). Thanks again, DavieCrock

ALDEGA 0 Posted May 7, 2002 Yes, it works perfectly with Paint Shop Pro (which is shareware). I made my transparent logo with it.
MaF 0 Posted May 7, 2002 just use the magic stick to select the thing u want to be not transparent than goto selections than save as alpha channel. Than do the same thing as above in texview. Result is something like this :
ALDEGA 0 Posted May 7, 2002 This would give opaque transparency, not alpha transparency, which may be needed.
DavieCrock 0 Posted May 8, 2002 Aldegra: You say Paint Shop Pro is shareware, do you have a link that I may use to obtain it? Â If MaF's methods creates "opaque transparencies", then what methodologies should be used in Paint Shop Pro to obtain an alpha transparency? Thanks in advance, you guys have been great and very helpful!! DavieCrock
