KamikazyWar 0 Posted January 18, 2004 Well I'm from WWIIEC as animator and a question has arizen: Can each weapon have there own anim, if so whats the code to make it work? Heck before posting so many posts like this: Post your animation projects here.... Lets make this a Q&A.

dm 9 Posted January 19, 2004 You can have a set of custom animations for each SOLDIER, but NOT for each WEAPON. This means if you have fancy anims for holding a sten gun or Mp40 (by the magazine) then when he pics up a MG3 or a BAR he will still be "holding" where the magazine would be, and thus look a little silly... pang 0 Posted January 19, 2004 You can have a set of custom animations for each SOLDIER, but NOT for each WEAPON.This means if you have fancy anims for holding a sten gun or Mp40 (by the magazine) then when he pics up a MG3 or a BAR he will still be "holding" where the magazine would be, and thus look a little silly... aye another crazy development issue by bis. it´d be so cool if ofp2 sdks would be able to place the holding position for each hand in the next o˛ for ofp2
bucket man 2 Posted January 19, 2004 So this means that no new anims for rifles and such?
KamikazyWar 0 Posted January 19, 2004 Well for each unit is still a good thing since its jsut the player job not to waste ammo on dead bodies @DeadmeatXM2, But may I have an exemple of the config.cfg needed to do such a thing?Since its still a good start considuring the issues of realism. BraTTy 0 Posted January 19, 2004 Right, exactly what Deadmeat said...only individual weapon anims that I know you could do is seperate "reload" anims for each weapon is all.
KamikazyWar 0 Posted January 19, 2004 Yeh I've been asked to do that which isn't the problem... Good to see its possible but I'd need help on how to establish a good Config.cfg. Which tells the engine how it works. So I need 2 things: -E.g. Of a config.cfg For a custom anim for a unit (Like deadmeat said) -E.g. Of a Config.cfg for a custom reload anim (Like BraTTy said) Thx for the help guyz..Atleast now I know the limitations I have to work with, which wont make me ask similar questions. Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 19, 2004 *bump* bad news for those animators over at invasion1944 @deadmeat a little more subtle next time, ok?
dm 9 Posted January 19, 2004 @deadmeata little more subtle next time, ok? Nope, cause then I inevitably have to come back and explain it again...
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 19, 2004 I meant to which mod you were pointing (inv44) MP40, mg34, BAR, ect... get the point?
dm 9 Posted January 19, 2004 I meant to which mod you were pointing (inv44)MP40, mg34, BAR, ect... get the point? Oh right... It was only because they were the first examples that popped into my head...
KamikazyWar 0 Posted January 19, 2004 Ok so no chance of getting an exemple on how to do those precision for anims...hen...Well if anyone can help plz post your comments here or just PM me
@cero 0 Posted January 19, 2004 OOOOOoooookey, here I come with my crazy ideas. How about making an animation for a unit, then when you change weapon the unit gets changed aswell, so you'll have a different unit with a new animation. I know it would be possible for AI units, but I don't know if you can change the players model ingame. @CERO.
KamikazyWar 0 Posted January 20, 2004 If you want some long script and a small blackout during the effect who knows.... but I don't think its possible since I never hear of a command called Setplayer. 'But I really want ot know how to make a Config.cfg that makes an anim only for one units, but know one helps.'
quakergamer 0 Posted January 20, 2004 Actually it could be possible to make a script that would check every seond what weapon the soldier has and change the animation according to the weapon you pick up ...

All words but I aint really a scripter so I would need help on this. And could some1 tell me How I could get it contact with some1 who can give me a config.cfg For a custom anim for a unit and/or of a Config.cfg for a custom reload anim.
