Anims for each weapon

Well I'm from WWIIEC as animator and a question has arizen: Can each weapon have there own anim, if so whats the code to make it work?

Heck before posting so many posts like this: Post your animation projects here.... Lets make this a Q&A.

You can have a set of custom animations for each SOLDIER, but NOT for each WEAPON.

This means if you have fancy anims for holding a sten gun or Mp40 (by the magazine) then when he pics up a MG3 or a BAR he will still be "holding" where the magazine would be, and thus look a little silly...

another crazy development issue by bis. it´d be so cool if ofp2 sdks would be able to place the holding position for each hand in the next o˛ for ofp2

Well for each unit is still a good thing since its jsut the player job not to waste ammo on dead bodies biggrin_o.gif

@DeadmeatXM2, But may I have an exemple of the config.cfg needed to do such a thing?Since its still a good start considuring the issues of realism.

Right, exactly what Deadmeat said...only individual weapon anims that I know you could do is seperate "reload" anims for each weapon is all.

tounge_o.gif Yeh I've been asked to do that which isn't the problem... Good to see its possible but I'd need help on how to establish a good Config.cfg. Which tells the engine how it works. So I need 2 things:

-E.g. Of a config.cfg For a custom anim for a unit (Like deadmeat said)

-E.g. Of a Config.cfg for a custom reload anim (Like BraTTy said)

Thx for the help guyz..Atleast now I know the limitations I have to work with, which wont make me ask similar questions. wink_o.gif

I meant to which mod you were pointing (inv44)

MP40, mg34, BAR, ect... get the point? wink_o.gif

OOOOOoooookey, here I come with my crazy ideas.

How about making an animation for a unit, then when you change weapon the unit gets changed aswell, so you'll have a different unit with a new animation.

I know it would be possible for AI units, but I don't know if you can change the players model ingame.

If you want some long script and a small blackout during the effect who knows.... but I don't think its possible since I never hear of a command called Setplayer.

Actually it could be possible to make a script that would check every seond what weapon the soldier has and change the animation according to the weapon you pick up ...

True.... Unless its checks only when the action of picking up as been activated.So i reads the weapon you have and switched automatically the anims.Of course and Else comment would be needed since an unknow weapon could creat conflict.

crazy_o.gif  All words but I aint really a scripter so I would need help on this. And could some1 tell me How I could get it contact with some1 who can give me a config.cfg For a custom anim for a unit and/or of a Config.cfg for a custom reload anim.  rock.gif  Weird that know one got to helping me about those probs.
