I think you uploaded an early alpha by accident.

EDIT: This has so much potential to be a really good/great pack but it is full of "we rushed this out the door" bugs and things that really could have been worked on a lot more just to even call it a beta release.

Im not talking just unfinished textures. I'm talking...

-unfinished weapons

- bullet impact/scream sounds taken from a ww2 pack

-waaay too much HD in the weapons to the point where why even fire the weapon...you wont hit anything(There is nothing balanced to this that has been released so you cant use these guys against anyone)

- burning sound on ground left from the flamer gun even when there's no fire anymore.

-some blue textured units(guards?) that are just plain bad.

-weapon sounds that are either chopped up or just piercing and annoying.

This is what ive seen just after 15 minutes of playing.

Yeah, actually they know all that stuff already. They just released it so the community has something to play with as they continue to refine the addon pack. But overall I think they're definitely on the right track to make something pretty special and that will be a lot of fun I think. If you have their Tau force pack that they released awhile back you can pit them against those guys... if not perhaps then pitting them against the Colonial Marines or Bugs from the Starship Troopers addon pack that came out recently. smile_o.gif

I dunno, if people want to make addons that's great. But if you want them to be used in missions or be used in the editor in beta form...polish it AT LEAST A BIT.

Especially for people who have slow connections who cant dload all the big stuff everytime there's a re-release.

As for using it with other space type addons...It's unplayable against other packs due to the HD.

CT:

i agree the pack isn't anywhere near polished enough to be released as something of a final pack, but it wasn't really meant to be. what we wanted to do was give all the people who have been waiting a long time to see some results something to keep their interest and to actually show them what we were actually doing behind the scenes, and give an idea as to what units will be implemented and what they will be like. we should be releasing at least 2 more upgrades to this pack, one being a massive textural overall (which are already in devolopment, they just weren't finished for this release) and the bug fixes and config suggestions from this test, and then a final 'smoothing' release, which should then produce a fine and perfect product....we hope ;) you know how it is.

basically this release is to discover if people agree with the ideas implemented in the units, and if not, why not. The more feedback we get the better, so please keep it coming.

C_P:

The Kasrkin are a variant of the IG Stormtroopers, just with a bit more armour padding, and as yet we don't have plans for adding catachan units, however, you never know what the future may hold smile_o.gif

oh and i'll put some screenies up next time i'm on, however there should be some on the OPSCIFI site.

Fair enough.

But scrap the HD weapons until you put out a pack(like the TAU for example) with similar HD versions. Otherwise...whats the point in making them less effective?

Yeah, the HD doesn't make any real sense, I always thought that Cadians are (elite) shocktroops with excellent marksmanship (unless they are the conscripts). Having them use HD is kinda funny.

However, in dense cover situations (like jungle or something) I could understand you guys would use the HD's.

I agree if you guys want to make the guards a tad less effective versus troops like the Tau's, but that shouldn't be through the guards fighting skills. As far as I know the average guard has better (fighting) skills than a Tau warrior. The only exception those Tau have are their superiour (body) armour and weapons.

The HD was implemented on the cadians first, but we are planning to implement it on every single one of the units we release, and the Tau pack will be brought in line with the cadians in their next release.

If people still don't like the HD idea then, we'll probably release two versions, one HD and one normal, and then people can use whichever they prefer.

Here's a small hint how to get good textures: take photos of real well painted WH40K miniatures. For example basic Imperial tanks have quite flat surfaces so taking photos shouldn't be a problem. I took some photos of my Dark Angels units and they could have been used for textures (don't ask them because I don't have them anymore).
