Bench Marking

Recommended Posts

We have added a Bench Marking page as of today (based on the Fraps FPS bench marking system), this will allow Roughnecks and others to post thier Bench marks for all to Compare.

it will take a few entries and a few days to start seeing results.

in the mean time head on over to start Bench Marking!

Mal, I downloaded the current version of FRAPS (V1.5) two days ago, and I can't get it to display anything in OFP.

It works fine when testing Direct3D in DXDIAG, for example, but I get nothing in OFP. Have you had any luck yourself?

yea your now about the 8th person to say that, Avon had a simular problem and asked for the earlier version 1.41

RN Quarters just had the same problem with Return to Castle Wolf.

so in the mean time we'll just offer 1.41

Once I get home and test 1.5 (at grandma's for a week she had eye surgery and need me here as she can't see for a few days) I'll be emailing the company to try and see why it's faling so much, unless you want to do since I'm not really sure when I'll be home.

This is just a Lap top and has no games on it to test

I got FRAPS V1.50 to work under Windows 2000 with OFP, here is what I had to do:

First, you have to make sure that Direct3D V-Sync is ON; I used NVMax to do that.

Second, after starting FRAPS before OFP, I had to switch resolutions from inside OFP to get the FRAPS counter to appear. The resolution you run at doesn't seem to matter, but you apparently have to switch video modes for FRAPS to initialize correctly.

On my system (1600x1200x32 @ 75Hz, Quincunx FSAA) I am getting the following results for the 'Steal the Car' mission:

Avg: 23.084 - Min: 15 - Max: 36

The average was obtained by pressing SCROLL LOCK to start and stop the FRAPS benchmark session.

the 1st time I ran Fraps 1.41 on my 98 SE it failed

then a week later I was board and tried it again and it just worked, no clue as to how

please help us out and post your Fraps results

http://www.roughnecks.org/benchmark

the failures may also be linked to the ATI Display bug for the ATI Radeon Tweaker

Turn on Fraps, right click your desk top and head to

ACTIVE DESKTOP > COSTOMIZE MY DESKTOP

then head to

SETTINGS > ADVANCED

change some thing in your D3D and then back and then hit apply, you should beable to now have Fraps working in OFP or other games

it's just a theory, but may actually work

I just wanted to repeat that I had to switch video modes from inside OFP to get the FRAPS counter to show up.

I think the problem that Unl33t is seeing is the same one I had with Windows 2000. At first I thought it wasn't working at all, but then I found it worked with the DXDIAG Direct3D tests. I then found out that switching video modes inside OFP somehow caused FRAPS to reinitialize.

What problems were you all having when trying to run FRAPS? When I run FRAPS, and then try to run OFP, it crashes EVERYTIME. When I get back to my other comp, I'll try some of those suggestions and get back to yah wink.gif But I won't record any results til I get my new comp

I had the same problem with an older version of FRAPS (I think V1.30), which was only for Windows 95/98/ME. When I tried it under Windows 2000, the application would crash when starting a game that used DirectX.

I'm not sure which version first supported Windows 2000, but V1.50 definitely works with OFP under Windows 2000, and is supposed to work on XP, too.

You can get the current version of FRAPS here:
