Should my game be this slow?

Yes but expecting 40 >fps with a 1280 x 960 resoultion with decent texture settings isn't viable, not saying it wouldn't be playable but the doods looking for smooooooooooothness

Well, I tweaked with all the settings and the game seems to run better now. I've also messed with things, making them higher and lower. As well change from 16 to 32, sometimes back to see if the change was better.

With the system you have you should be able to run 2000 or more viewdistance comfortably.

I think its a matter of your video setting of 85hz and vertical sync sounds enabled so your only capable of 42.5 fps i believe

Disabling vertical sync would allow upto 85fps

Lowering your resolution or increasing your refresh rate (usually mostly monitor capable dependandt) should help

I think ATi recently added triple buffering for D3D and OGL to the Catalysts, so that limitation no longer comes into effect. Either way, I never use vsync for that exact reason.

Gadger, yeah I am after silky 60+FPS But it's never gonna happen, at least not with this generation of hardware. 1024 vs 1280 doesn't make a huge difference (10-15% IIRC) so I just play at 1280.

Never found the option to turn it off in game, so I turned it off completly on my computer.

Verticle sync off totally made it faster. Now I can play with 1900 distance, with 1024x780 with nearly all of the settings on.

AMD 1.5,Raedon 7200 but you only have the 256ram, I would prolly play between 1200-1500 viewdistance,so your doing great at 1900 viewdistance
