theavonlady 2 Posted November 1, 2003 Is your CD drive "F:"? If so, is your CD scratched or damaged? If it doesn't seem so, give us detailed system specs of your PC. If your PC's motherboard contains a VIA chipset, search The FAQ for "via".

Acecombat 0 Posted November 2, 2003 Both of you try copying The OFP cd's to the Hardrive first and then initiate the installation from there maybe your CD ROM is having trouble reading the CD , it happens sometimes.

OpMaster 0 Posted November 11, 2003 I am having the same problem, but from experiance I noticed that O.pbo will only copy (even when done manually) on a CD Rom drive running at around 15-30x for some reason but I dont have a CD-Rom drive that runs at that speed anymore, only a 52x speed one. And I am experiancing the same problems. My PC does have a Via chipset too, but, I have had this sort of problem with even a non-via motherboard chipset aswell. I originally got round this by using a slower CD drive (which I dont have now ><) and copying the Resistance folder to the hard drive and installing it from there used to work. it only stops on 1 file, and that is O.pbo, always that file, it started about 2 months after I got Resistance and I bought it when it around the time when it first came out in the UK stores. Help would be greatly appreciated since I can't install resistance now when I had to do a fresh install of OFP (becuase I put too many addons on e.t.c.). OpMaster 0 Posted November 11, 2003 I just got round it now by using my CD-RW to copy the file, and becuase the CD-RW has a more sensitive beam it seems to be able to copy it.
toadlife 3 Posted November 13, 2003 I've had this happen many times while installing Windows 2000/XP at work. When installing, the drive wont be abel to copy one measly file and as a result the whole install can't continue. It's allways either a bad cd or a dirty CD rom lense. If your CD is in good condition, then it's most likely the CD-ROM drive's fault, and if you are adventurous type, you can solve the problem by taking apart your CD rom drive and cleaning the lense. If you decide to try and clean your lense, be very carefull - and don't come blaming me if you break it. A cotton swab/light tissue and a light cleaning solution like Window cleaner or rubbing alcohol will do the trick. Again - do this at your own risk.
Placebo 29 Posted November 13, 2003 Often times it's related to Via chipset or PCI latency, it's not solely an issue with a dodgy disc or a skanky CD-rom lense.
toadlife 3 Posted November 13, 2003 With all of the problems via chipsets have caused in the past few years, that doesnt suprise me.
