shadow 6 Posted October 9, 2003 Just spotted over at Bluesnews that H&D Deluxe is free for download. It includes the game, the expansion (devils bridge) and the map/mission editor. I found a good link at Gamershell (258MB)
lee_h._oswald 0 Posted October 9, 2003 Thank you! I remember the problems running it on my old 3dfx card. Hope it runs with win xp. MfG Lee
shadow 6 Posted October 9, 2003 If this is the same version that was lately sold in stores under a white lable (probably is), then it should work very well with XP and is DX8.1 compatible with higher res textures and some newer graphical effects/features. I wonder how that editor looks.
GoOB 0 Posted October 9, 2003 Too bad that the mission editor is not availible separately. Since I have both H&D and the expansion pack. Wich I never could finnish, those greek missions were almost impossible for me to do. But it is good to hear that H&D2 will hit stores soon. That ought to hold me until HL2
shadow 6 Posted October 9, 2003 I just got it confirmed from @WAR that it is the upgraded version of H&D. Allmost done dl'ing it. Will check out how the graphics and gameplay is soon. Could be fun. Atleast it features real coop. H&D2 might have coop in a future patch but not out of the box
GoOB 0 Posted October 9, 2003 This badboy supports co-op? I never indulged myself in the multiplayer features of H&D since I did not have internet at the time. Very well, I guess downloading beats searching trough my drawers to find the original H&D.
shadow 6 Posted October 9, 2003 This badboy supports co-op? Yeah, and its the old fashioned type too You play the campaign continously. If you have finnished the campaign in SP you can copy the savegames to the multiplayer-savegame folder to pick mission later out in the campaign if you feel like it. toadlife 3 Posted October 9, 2003 YEs! I beat hidden and dangerous and devil's bridge/FFF a long time ago, but when deluxe came out it was not available in the U.S. Gonna go grab it right now!
GoOB 0 Posted October 10, 2003 We ought to round up some old H&D players and have a coop session sometime. I just have to brush up on my skills first
toadlife 3 Posted October 10, 2003 The easiest (and most reliable) way to get this game if you want it is via BitTorrent. Here a link to the torrent file: http://www.gametab.com/files/torrents/hddeluxe.exe.torrent grab BT here: http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/download.html
shadow 6 Posted October 10, 2003 We ought to round up some old H&D players and have a coop session sometime. I just have to brush up on my skills first Uhm that would mean many servers or game-rounds as the game only supports up to 4-player But count me in
waffendennis 0 Posted October 10, 2003 This is a : Oldie but goldy finally this game is for free now I hope more branches will take Take2 example.
Guest DKM-jaguar Posted October 10, 2003 I got the main game and that expansion pack with the bloke with the bazooka on the front... i saw this for sale at Å10 some time ago. If it wasnt for my 56k and the fact by the time i've downlaoded it, ofp2 will be out, I'd be getting that d/l right now
toadlife 3 Posted October 10, 2003 Thank you!I remember the problems running it on my old 3dfx card. Hope it runs with win xp. MfG Lee Those 3dfx probs were due to drivers and were fixed with the latest set of drivers. I had a 3dfx v3 3500 when I played this. The deluxe version seems much more stable and should work with new cards. It ran like a champ at 1024x768 with my cheap geforce2MX/athlon2100/win2k system. Edit: also the AI in the game seems like it has been upgraded a bit, and the missions have slighly different enemy placement. This might make the deluxe fun even for those of us have beaten the orginal games.
shadow 6 Posted October 10, 2003 This might make the deluxe fun even for those of us have beaten the orginal games. I finnished the game a zillion times a couple of years ago, but now I get my ass whooped the moment I spot an enemy
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted October 11, 2003 YEs! I beat hidden and dangerous and devil's bridge/FFF a long time ago, but when deluxe came out it was not available in the U.S. Gonna go grab it right now! As a matter of fact, you can get H&D Deluxe by buying the preorder version of H&D2 at a store like Best Buy. Basically, what happens is you buy a preorder box for like 10 bucks, you get a copy of H&D2 set aside for you, and inside the preorder box is H&D Deluxe
toadlife 3 Posted October 11, 2003 I'm not preordering something that has been delayed for more than two years. The first released date annouced for hidden and dangerous 2 was something like August 2001.

The first released date annouced for hidden and dangerous 2 was something like August 2001. Â Think of it as buying H&D Deluxe for ten bucks, with that 10 bucks also going towards H&D2- whenever the hell that comes out But since you can get it free now, I guess it's a moot point. toadlife 3 Posted October 11, 2003 I finnished the game a zillion times a couple of years ago, but now I get my ass whooped the moment I spot an enemy Ah yes - the crappy Hidden and Dangerous control interface rears it ugly head once again.
BoonieRat 0 Posted October 11, 2003 Quote[/b] ]Ah yes - the crappy Hidden and Dangerous control interface rears it ugly head once again. You sure it was'nt the interface that comes before the keypad that was crappy?! ...Did all the AI have the same faces in H&D originaly? When I played H&D delux (they have lightmaps/shadows now! w00t!!) I noticed they all had the same face. I can't remember if this was always so, or I just never noticed it at the time cause it was the 'norm'...
EiZei 0 Posted October 11, 2003 Lets hope they are really releasing H&D2 now since this is a pretty single-use marketing strategy.
sanctuary 19 Posted October 11, 2003 That is a great move. I played the original H&D , but never played the extension (and never completed the original game too) . In the original game , i remember the controls were not very user friendly and the missions were hard because of an insane sharpshooter AI. Now, after installing the free download and playing the 3 first missions again , i must say that OFP difficulty is a joke as you have a "cone of fire" despite the good iron sight , and the AI doesnt seem to have one. H&D is always a good game (i dont remember it as beautifull on the old system i had on its time) , but the controls are always really un-intuitive (it is the only real low point of this free game i can see actually). Just remember to not run gun crazy in the middle of a mission , and all will be right ;)
-TNF-Steiner 0 Posted October 11, 2003 I'm not preordering something that has been delayed for more than two years. The first released date annouced for hidden and dangerous 2 was something like August 2001.  Remember that all too well , I started a H&D coop squad in may 2001, then when Ofp was released we decided to start playing that instead until H&D2 was released, still waiting  Just tried H&DD, graphic is better but the controls are still sluggish  Here is the official site for H&D2: http://www.hidden-and-dangerous.com/hd2/index.aspx?bhcp=
stgn 39 Posted October 11, 2003 I have completer bothe the original and the Extencion there are only tre-four hard missions in that game the ones in germany where you have to drive a half track thou german hold arear(The well not that difficult but your soldiers wants to run forward all the time in the start and it is very anoying to keep track of them all the time) And the mission after that is also very hard cause the first time I played it I had used one of the two AT mines the mission befor but then I found out how to kill the Tigers enyway and all the soldiers too. in the extansion pack the second mission is also very hard its like the one I just mentioned but whit less cover and on tanks. The only hard greek missoin is the one where you have to liberate the littke town. STGN
