theavonlady 2 Posted September 15, 2003 There's a new sub sim demo out: Enigma: Rising Tide. Anyone else try it? Other than the graphics, which I like, and the creative history and fiction, which I don't care for, there's something about the sim itself that bugs me but I can't put my finger on it. Is it simply too arcadish? If you haven't downloaded the demo yet, make sure you download the latest copy, dated mid-August, I think. I know that FilePlanet has a copy. Not sure who else does. ran 0 Posted September 15, 2003 well , it's been said in a few reviews that this game isn't a pure simulation and it was destinated to a large audience
theavonlady 2 Posted September 15, 2003 Ahah. Another opiate of the masses. Might have to wait for Dangerous Waters.
drewb99 0 Posted September 15, 2003 Played the demo a while ago, but it really didn't interest me (partially from the crazy control scheme )
theavonlady 2 Posted September 15, 2003 Hmmm....... just played captaining the ship. I don't know how to guesstimate at what depth to set the charges. Wasted all of them. But my crew did knock 4 planes out and I gave chase to 2 Uboats, evaded their torpedoes, and gunned them to the surface, after which I rammed them to their murky grave. ......................... but boy am I seasick a hundred percent! waffendennis 0 Posted September 16, 2003 What kind of computer does this one need? this was the only thing they say about the specs: Requires: Windows (with DirectX), Direct3D Download link here: Link
hellfish6 7 Posted September 16, 2003 It's designed as a MMOG where each player is a ship, not just a captain. It's not horrible but I'm not exactly thrilled with it. I'd give it an 8.0 out of 10. Nothing wrong with it, nothing particularly great about it either. You don't get to drive battleships. And Avon brings up a good point - you CAN get seasick from it... waffendennis 0 Posted September 16, 2003 So do I need to bring my anti puck with me if I gonna play this game?
theavonlady 2 Posted September 16, 2003 So do I need to bring my anti puck with me if I gonna play this game? Just lean over the rail. Turns out there's lots of demos and too many official sites. Read this thread. What I want to know is does it have a campaign/mission editor? Don't see mention of it anywhere.

BoonieRat 0 Posted September 16, 2003 That bow~wave anim' looks crap , what's it like when moving?...
theavonlady 2 Posted September 16, 2003 That bow~wave anim' looks crap , what's it like when moving?... Don't know why you say that. EDIT: OK, yes the bow wave in 3rd person view is nothing great. Haven't checked if it's any better on top of the line systems or with the highest graphics settings but it's almost irrelevant. Keep in mind that most of the time you're in 1st person view. The above pic is in 3rd person view. It's nice for screen shots and assessing the area around the boat but that's about it. Now that I've downloaded Tech Demo A and Recruitment Demos A through E (search 3D Gamers for "enigma rising tide"), I've seen more and more weather patterns. Sometimes the waves swell to the point of literally making you sea-sick. Other times the waters are much calmer and you (and the AI) can more readily get accurate hits when firing the guns. I wish OFP's oceans would look like this! Here's a fun pic I just found:
theavonlady 2 Posted September 16, 2003 What I want to know is does it have a campaign/mission editor? Looks like the answer for the moment is no. Of course, maybe someone will be able to hack a mod together with new missions/campaigns.

ozanzac 0 Posted September 16, 2003 Quote[/b] ] Ooooooooooooooo................ MP will allow for spies and traitors! Lets not forget those navy 'inititiation' ceremonies. Interpret my comment how you like, but I'm talking about a little incident that was *gasp* caught on tape on an Royal Australian Navy ship a few years ago. And if you were wondering, no it ain't in the words of 'South Park' some BackDoor$!**s 9 special. Just an initiation ceremony where the ships garbage was pored over some new recruits............... [sarcasm] Yay, lets go join the navy![/sarcasm]
theavonlady 2 Posted September 16, 2003 What I want to know is does it have a campaign/mission editor? Looks like the answer for the moment is no. Confirmed by an email I just received from the publisher, GMX Media, in the UK. That was a 2 hour turn-around response time. Nice!
