Was there even a sapper around to approach the guy?

It's such an unusual case. Everyone's shocked. Remember, they assumed the guy was the robber. Who knows whether they though it was a real bomb under his own control and they kept him at a distance until someone capable could arrive and deal with it.

Hanging a bomb around some innocent guy's neck and send him out to rob a bank! That's pretty sick! sad_o.gif

agreed. whoever is responsible should recieve the toughest sentence that can be given. mad_o.gif

the bomb was sophisticated, and the bomb squad was called in.

I don't really blame the police though, they probably would of set the thing off if they had just run up to him and taken it off him.  They did the right thing by calling in the bomb squad and waiting, sadly they just didn't have enough time. sad_o.gif

rock.gifwow_o.gif This sounds a little weird. Kinda reminds me of the movie Phone booth.

This is a really sad and unuseuall case. But it would be a really good idea for a film dont you think?

Or Maybe i good idea for a OFP mission.

No disrespect to the poor guy and his family.

What should your regular Joe Schmoe officer do? I mean you nead trained people to deal with bombs. And the bomb squad just didn't get there in time. And then there is the possibility that the man had strapped the bomb on himself (wich sounds unlikely to me) Basically there were nothing the cops could do but wait for assitance. I am sure if a bombsquad had gotten there in time this guy would still be alive...

None the less, a very horrible story. And if the man killed really was under threat that makes this whole deal even worse. Who would do such a thing, even to a stranger?

My respects go out to the mans family, truly a sad story.

EDIT: Typos, Re-phrase

indeed. regular joe police officer knows squat about defusing bombs.

Quote[/b] ]Meanwhile, investigators are looking into the death of a 43-year-old co-worker of Wells whose body was found Sunday in his parents' home. Police had sent in a bomb team when called to the home because of the connection, but authorities said nothing suspicious was found. Police believe the proximity of the deaths was a coincidence.

Indeed Ralph. Police forces outside of say NYC or LA and other major metropolitan PD's do not have competent bomb squads.
