I'm not sure what you mean, you want a book about infantry and stuff, or about the video game?

A book... maybe it's because I just don't like reading all that much, but it would be pretty good.

Comic books, now theres a book! (How American did I just sound? tounge_o.gif)

Movie, that would be neat, but would probably never happen.

It would be pretty cool to have something, because OFP/:R had great story lines.

You know how Tom Clancy writes books?

And then they convert them to a videogame? Like Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell?

Same thing here.

Only the other way around.

I just think it would something fun to talk about and perhaps something might happen ;)

Around OFP, remember those next-poster-continues-story threads? Kind of like that. That would be great. With a touch of Clancy of course wink_o.gif

It would be pretty cool, but there won't be much chemistry between characters; Armstrong meets Gastovski, so perhaps you could make something out of that.

Well, I was actually thinking new characters, not seen in the games before.

After all you cannot really expand on the official Campaigns

(i know you can, but I'm just saying that cuz I'm special tounge_o.gif )

Maybe you should get tom clancy himself involved wink_o.gif Might be a good laugh smile_o.gif OFP is much better at doing allot of the things in his books with jack ryan than the games currently being made off off his books smile_o.gif

So, since OFP actually is all about combat, and you don't actually want any of the original characters, plots or locations to be involved...

You essentially just want a war novel. I hate to break it to you, but there are plenty of those already out there.

There were G.I. Joe novels in the 80s, two types, a normal one and a "Chose your Faith" kind. I've had the chance to read one of them last month, it was good mix of the TV show with more expanded details and backgrounds of the characters on the show, plus some new ones.

But that's GI Joe, a TV series. OFP has all its story based on 2 campaigns, that had endings to them. The TV series was pretty much open ended, so books were like a screenplay to an unaired episode.

Is it a good idea? Yes, they could be done, even if someone writes them and publishes them online only. Then if someone does write up a novel, someone else will undoubtedly turn it into a OFP campaign.

Actually, Rainbow Six the game came before the book. He made a book out of the video game. As far as I know, there are no books about Ghost Recon or Splinter Cell. Yet.

LOL

If he didn't have anything to do with them, why is called "Tom Clancy's ...(whatever)" then? rock.gif

I dfenatly like the Idea of an OFP movie! smile_o.gif

But it has to be as realistic as the game. And I doubt that someone can get so much 1985 equipment of the US army and the Soviets together. The costs would be to high... sad_o.gif

Well sometimes they don't really do that...

The dress Actors up to make them look like Russians tounge_o.gif

And, heke, if they can dig up weapons for Saving Private Ryan, I'm sure they can do the same here :P

I suggested the idea of an OFP TV series ages ago. It would consist of stories played via professionally done cutscenes. The show could also include an editing corner, addon/mod review and even a FAQ moment. biggrin_o.gif

"LOL

Because they were developed by Red Storm, which is a Tom Clancy brand. He started the development studio and they made Rainbow Six. He thought it was interesting enough to base books on, and so he did.
