sanitystream 0 Posted June 28, 2003 I'm fairly new to OFP and have a question: If I'm in charge of a squad of tanks, do I need to put a Tank Commander in each A.I. controlled tank, or can I make do with just a gunner and driver? What would the difference be? I'm hoping to manage with just two men in a tank so the third man can do something else.
Mr B 0 Posted June 28, 2003 Nah, I don't think you need a commander. The M113 works fine without a commander, and I'm sure I've given tanks two-man crews in campaigns when I'm short on guys. I think they might be a bit slower to acquire targets though . Cheers Mr B
grey 0 Posted June 28, 2003 yea ive wondered about this too... what is the technical difference, if any? 2 ais in a tank has always done fine for me, but it makes sense that a commander would give the ai some advantage.
Skul 0 Posted June 28, 2003 I've played with an AI commander, and he gives targets pretty quick. Certainly quicker than a human (obviously). But I've never seen much difference between 2 & 3 men crews. [Gareth Gates must die]
Vojtoo 0 Posted June 28, 2003 Commander have just a radar where he see targets more quickly and on long distance. But the tank work correct whitout commander, but haven`t radar, so the target see just gunner and driver where they looking.
tankieboy 0 Posted June 30, 2003 Yeh you don't need commanders but it does make a difference to target acquisition. So you could have six tanks instead of four or five tanks and you and a driver in a hummer.
