    Open source?

"i dont care if it allows cheaters cos i dont play with them - i just want my open source!" very mature attitude guys, nice.

Do i need tank commanders in a.i. controlled tanks

yea ive wondered about this too... what is the technical difference, if any? 2 ais in a tank has always done fine for me, but it makes sense that a commander would give the ai some advantage.

    Open source?

u do not want the source released then anyone could compile their own version of opf with a multitude of cheats etc built in it would be stupid an sdk, and open source, are two completely different issues

    Graphics card

bear in mind that opf is a very cpu bound game u would see far more results from a cpu upgrade

    Can i change/edit the optics/zoom?

i think this is a design decision to encourage people to use the v gunsite view (btw this is actually the "optics" button, right mouse is simply zoom in) i gather from your post that you do not like the v gunsite mode and prefer the normal crosshair instead? the v gunsite is actually very useful and cool (except with machineguns) and you should practise using it! use normal view for scanning the horizon, then when u see an enemy put your crosshair near him and hit v to aim remember opf isnt like normal fps's. just needs a bit of adjustment

    Goty: multiplayer coop missions?

the bad news is unfortunately there simply arent that many co-op missions included by bis officially resistance adds about 2 or 3 more i think in my opinion bis neglected one of the most excellent aspects of opf however the good news is there are lots and lots and lots of cooperative missions on the net for you to download! and also, it _is_ possible to edit the campaign missions and make them playable in co-operative mode. it requires a bit of effort, and some missions get a bit messed up tho!

  8. I was thinking... the fps genre in general is getting pretty stagnant. No one is really adding anything innovative to their next generation games. It seems that all thats worked on between sequals is graphics with some new maps/theatres (eg doom3, hl2, and now it seems ofp2) Theres nothing revolutionary about any of these sequals But BIS have a chance to do something special with opf that will advance the (realistic) fps genre and raise the bar. My suggestion is to work on player>environment interaction. What do i mean? Well, imagine this in current operation flashpoint. You are a rifleman, and are travelling with your squad through some shallow hills. You reach a crest and suddenly spot a very large patrol ahead of you. You go prone and position yourself on the top of the hill crest to provide the smallest target to the enemy. At the same time they spot you... there isnt much time. You open fire, enemies fall. Then the surviving enemies go prone too, and line you up. Oh oh. In the next few seconds an ak burst is going to go through your helmet and it will be over. So what do you do now? You press back. And then u start shuffling backwards at a terribly slow, computerised pace. And then a bullet goes through your head, game over. Come on, is this what would happen in real life? By player>environment interaction, i mean how the players body and view reacts to the environment. In this example, imagine instead that when you went prone on a hillcrest, your player automatically contorted himself to hug the ground, and placed his rifle on the tip of the crest. Then when u pressed a "cover" button, you instantly pull yourself back below the crust (if its tall enough) and take cover. Just like you would do in real life. Your body is capable of contorting and sliding and twisting and shuffling quickly, in a game its simply not modelled. Another good example, building interaction. You are a light machine gunner and your town is about to be attacked. You find a good house on the outskirts of town and go upstairs and find a good window overlooking the road where dozens of soldiers are approaching. Then you realise the current problem. The window is at a funny height. You can either stand and expose too much of your upper body and try to shoot, and have terrible accuracy because you are in standing up mode. Or you can try to duck- but then the window sill fills up half your view and you cant see properly. How about instead, when you approach a window sill, your player automatically adjusts height so only his gun and head are above the sill. The gun is rested on the window sill for extra accuracy. And your "cover" button instantly makes you duck down below the sill when you are under fire. This is MUCH more realistic, its exactly what you would do in real life. There are many more situations where better environmental interaction would make a more realistic game, eg when you approach a building edge you should automatically peer around it (again with the option of taking cover any time with the press of a button). This level of environmental interaction has never been attempted before, and if done properly would increase the level of realism a huge amount, and cement operation flashpoint 2 as an innovative and ground breaking game. Please consider!

    Best storyline

why is everyone so mean to red hammer sure its not _as_ good as the others but it did keep me entertained when i played through it, it was by no means really bad

    Allied campaign bugs

probably because 1.75+ viewdistance changes mean that AI tanks also see much further and therefore are more effective (suma confirmed that the ai is tweaked with viewdistance) therefore any tanks (eg t72s and bmps) would be killing the other squads much more easily compared to when u played it in the past. try reducing the viewdistance back to pre-resistance levels or even less?

Is there any way to play the campaign co op?

thats why i wrote instructions on how to do it yourself and didnt post the actual missions

Is there any way to play the campaign co op?

i have unpboed the campaigns and ripped a few of the more suitable multiplayer missions from the cwc and red hammer campaigns to play together in coop mode. its very easy to do - unpbo the campaign pbo file - find the mission you want - copy this mission folder to your users/missions folder - open it in the games mission editor - find the players squad, change a few of the other soldiers to "playable" - save and export to multiplayer, finished! im not very good at editing missions at all but this seems to work fine. even if you leave things like retry in it still works, and the scripts still work because one player is stil left as "player" (eg demitry in red hammer) or whatever so all the scripts are triggered by him. i would like to know how to disable some cutscenes tho, cos these are annoying in multiplayer. i havent tried very complexly scripted missions like alamo though. good luck!

    Mouse buttons for iron sights

yes i believe the problem is that mouse1 cannot be rebound, it will always be fire. sorry, but 99% of the world uses mouse1 as fire, guess u are in the unfortunate minority and bis didnt think it worth allowing it bindable.

    Ofp2 game engine

what viewdistance can it do though? everyone already complains that tank warfare is cramped because of the relatively short viewdistance, with this engines detail levels i bet the viewdistance is even shorter. and as for aircraft... even worse! and how many men/objects can the engine handle on screen at one time? it could be the classic doom>quake syndrome: as the engine gets more detailed, the amount of enemies able to be drawn on the screen decreases dramatically of course it could be a marvel of technology and im totally wrong, if so great!

    Benchmark of 3000

does anyone know if operating system affects the opf benchmarks ? im positive that my friends win2k systems get higher opf benchmark values than my system running on win98, even tho its about the same system (in fact mine is a little faster)
