Yeah, sorry about that, just I have a real problem with file hosts that expect you to sign up to download stuff...

Here's a pic of the real thing (looking for a better pic than this one too)

Fileplanet = teh satan

Having a goddamned ID to download stuff? Notwithstanding the minimal queues for OFP stuff... it's still just a goddamned pain in the arse. Incidentally my gamespy ID is: Eatshitgamespy. biggrin_o.gif

This ruger mini 14 sure looks a lot like the ruger ac65f or whatever it's called. I know they're related but... hm.

Ok, i was a too lazy to write anything about this gun in real life. But after finished it I honestly couldn't look at Mini's any more  wink_o.gif

Now to bring some light into the issue.

The ac65f or how ever it was called, never came out in a bigger quantity. They tryed to compete for L.E. or military market (it was semi/fullauto switchable) AND yes right this model and NOT the Mini 14 was used by the A-team. The Mini 14 is a solely civilian rifle. The picture of Major Furchtbar  wink_o.gif  shows a customized one with a buttler creek aftermarket folding stock and apparently a grenade launcher!? I don't know in which country this would be allowed? The Mini 14 (theres other Mini models for different calibers too) comes either with a pretty boring wooden or plastic stock and is suitable for light deer, plinking, fun shooting or - when modified a bit - for home defense.

There in deed are some "whackos" that tune it up for target shooting  wink_o.gif  but then again you could go and buy a decent rifle in the first line. By factory the Mini 14 is a terrible watering can and barely holds a 20cm diameter on 100m.

I personally like this rifle most for beeing VERY light, small and handy.

If anyone want's to check out, heres a link to ruger's page:

how exactly DOES the multiple scopes thing work?

the_unknown_one

(is it using reload? e.g. reload m14 aimpoint, and then reload m14 scoped or whatvere?)

It looks like each fire mode has it's own optics view - very clever, IMHO...

Thanks Furchtbar ! biggrin_o.gif

I came to this solution while making the blaser sniper rifle. I wanted to find a work around for OFP-engine limitations concearning scope features. As it's impossible to scale the reticle texture linear (nor progressive) to zoom step, I've put 3 different "muzzles" in the config (2 for the Mini14). Each has the same ballistics but different reticle models and different zeroings. Basically it's the same concept like with an attached M203 or the hunting rifle which uses multiple (2) guns in one just that it's the same ammo type each time (with my addons).

But it's FAR from perfect as there's some major flaws in it:

- You have to reload twice (with the Mini14, 3 times with the blaser)

- You can't have different fireing modes (at least I couln't figure it)

cheers

hey yeah i would love a regular mini 14, it is a .223 caliber rifle so very multi purpose. a regular mini would be a great addition to deadmeats nogovian poloice units . but to whoever was gonna make one , please do

Ruger AC556 is the full auto version of the Mini 14.

Not used by any military...Possibly in use by a few police agencies.

Most are in civillian hands. (and, of course the A-TEAM has their stainless models)

There are some civillian legal AC556 rifles still out on the market, (and they are likely the cheapest "rifle calibre", full auto that I have seen available in the U.S. right now)

Last time I saw one for sale it was going for $3000.00.

The Mini 14 is based on a scaled down M14. (hence the name)

If you look closely, you will see that the action looks almost identical to an M14 (only smaller)

shoots .223 / 5.56

There is also the Mini 30...(same rifle, chambered in 7.62x39)

These are good plinking guns, but their weak point is their magazines.

There are no "military surplus" magazines, because it was never a military rifle.

So...If you want a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds...You either have to find a genuine "pre-ban" Ruger magazine (which are rare, and expensive)...Or, you have to settle for an "aftermarket" magazine (many of which are crap)
