SpecOp9 0 Posted June 14, 2003 Hi guys, Here is the idea I was thinking of a while ago for a campaign... 3 Diff Islands, each with things to do on them. Like buy stuff, build houses ETC. I also want to make it so you can travel from Island to Island whenever you want. ---------------------------- I start on the Nogova Island, and lets say I collect 20,000 dollars from a small crate. I then purchase a house using the money, maybey a small hut or something. I get bored, and decide to buy myself a flight to Everon. I got to the airport and hop on board, the END#1 trigger goes off, and the map loads up Everon. Total, lets say I have 500 dollars left, how would I have the scripts remember how much money I had/have when I load and travel to new Islands? Also, how would I make the campaign remember where I built my house? I'm sure it is possible, because you are able to keep weapons in the Resistance campaign from map to map. Any Ideas? vektorboson 8 Posted June 14, 2003 Well, just use the command SaveVar. This should be all you need!
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 14, 2003 sounds fun though, how far are you with it? the_unknown_one
Doolittle 0 Posted June 14, 2003 If you can figure out how to save house positions that would rule. Operation: TheSims, eh? Doolittle
SpecOp9 0 Posted June 14, 2003 Actually I was thinking more along the lines of Morrowind and Star Wars Galaxies.
SpecOp9 0 Posted June 14, 2003 I just think it would be really cool building your home in Operation Flashpoint, and having the ability to travel to other incredibly huge Maps and do whatever you want. Like a simulator.

SpecOp9 0 Posted June 15, 2003 OK, you mentioned "savevar" How exactly do I use this? Â Give me an example Plz
crashdome 3 Posted June 16, 2003 you use it as: SaveVar "VariableName" Using SaveVar, SaveStatus, and SaveIdentity creates save files in the following folders: (OFP Directory)\Users\PlayerName\Saved\Campaigns\CampaignName I am not sure if you can place multiple-Island missions in a campaign, but if so, you can access your saved data. Even though BIS says you can't save stuff in MP, it is possible. In MP it is a bit different though: (OFP Directory)\Users\PlayerName\Saved\TMP Also, SaveVar does not work in MP. Only SaveStatus and SaveIdentity do. Sinews of War (see below) utilizes those two commands in MP to save inventory and money by using SaveStatus on game logics (if you have $25000 save a gamelogic w/ a skill of 0.025000) in essence saving a value of a variable. The bonus is that all MP games use the same saved data and I can load ANY mission or map and still access that data. With the fact that MP can be endless, perhaps this is the way you want to go with your "endless" campaign. Anyone can play MP with one guy so it would be like SP. If you are interested, I can help you set up SOW in your missions. SOW v1.1 is out, but has some issues. Since COC released Network Services and it'll be much MUCH better when I finish v2.0  Or I can just help you on how to save info in your campaign too
