Whats the biggest terrain  youve got running smooth and stable?

Its difficult to define smooth, but biggest PMC terrain of course is PMC Mongolia (409km) which by combined overall whole is the largest ever ofp/arma terrain.


Take a moment to browse the catalog in PMC Terrains ArmA 3 page, sizes are not listed in that root page so you have to scourge through them to see specifications.


But from top of my head some large terrains with a lot of objects, large satellite texture/mask and good performance, ie kind of the ones I like or are very fond of are: PMC Egypt Suez, PMC Somalia Bosaso, PMC Poland Suwalki, PMC Libya Benghazi, PMC Iran Jahrom, PMC Iran Hormuz and PMC Germany Wolfsburg. That is quite a list to check out if you're interested on large/huge terrains (combined overall value), then there are bunch of large european rolling hills woodland terrains that I love, but some of those are as small as 40km (ie not large), for example some of the new poland terrains are just so sweet with enoch/livonia vegetation objects.

holy shit, gotta see the 409km terrain.

 

Gonna check out the ones mentioned also.Lve the Utapoa terrain.that was a brilliant idea for that one.Have a friend with a fully functioning b52 that iam trying to convince to upload.:)Was watching some YT vids, and wad thinking that was very doable and would be very cool.Would love to see that one with full trees and a really nice base.Can make a airbase composition for that pretty quick.:)

Dunno if ya keen on revisiting that one or not?

Lask is nice.That one came up well.

Drop a nice base in there and that would be a popular terrain for flying.

Had a look at the germany and Suez terrain aswell.They looks good too.Same deal, just needs a base and a flattening off and they would be real popular aswell.

Gonna check out the 409km and the others soon.

These terrains i tried so far , need a lil airbase work and they would be sweet.They deserve to have more use than they prolly getting.:)

Lask would come up looking and playing really really well.Excellent for Attack heli's

I don't know what "Utapoa terrain" is.

 

Do you have any recommendations for good CUP mission editor compositions to build air base object set?

 

If you would be interested putting together mission editor composition (only a3/ or CUP objects), guess its just an regular mission.sqm and send it to me, I could try to see how the tool pipeline works to get it imported into WRP terrain file and then in the next release.

There isnt much available in the way of airbase compositions.Which is why some ppl are so interested in mine i think.

The problem with cup/a3 runway pieces is that they fade out with the roads.if the satmap isnt done perfect ,the whole thing looks shitty.That why i have dev'ed my own pieces.Mine work by object view distance.Also the A2 runways are pretty old and a bit shitty these days imho.

Dont wanna work with the bis stuff untill i can edit/reproduce them.Almost there but am working on my own for the time being.

A3 runway lights are a lil incomplete.Did some research with real world CAT 2 lighting system and made some up myself.Easy to add them yourself though.I was also going to contact Mondkalb to include his taxi-way signs in my runway pack/project but am just using his addons as dependency atm.Putting a lil runway/airbase/airport pack with these terrains would work well.Hope A4 can run these terrains/formats.

I thought if i was gonna do my 51km terrain airbase, i'll have learn how to do it correct.So i been studying airbase/airports for the last few months.:)

 

I had a quick look at the 409km mongolia terrain.That came up really well.Very usable.Ran good for me.If that had some nice places to take off and land from it would be a Armaverse must have.Would be amazing to have just that in some of these terrains.

off topic , Lask is really growing on me.:)Love the colouring and as you said the livonia veg looks really good there.

Was just watching a Live stream from Lakenheath the other day.👍

 

Has the mask been done for the airfield area? Sortalokks like it.

the taxiways can be done with either object pieces or painted.The paint method looks good and the exact airfield can be traced.But it doesnt look the as good a finish.The gdt blur out early and dont have the same full quality at even short distances compared to  when using taxiway objects.But the objects cant trace the real world layout.:(

Tex's on the airfield taxi/runway would only match Altis runway pieces.The tanoa ones would need a satmap paint/touch up for them to match even closely.

Being large air mission terrain i think it needs to have some proper wide runways.the satmap runway atm is approx 60m wide.Wonder if there is some info available on that runway for the width?

I have a 50m grey concrete set that can be expanded to whatever to fit.I cam make up a runway objects set for PMC_data.pbo.i can aswell, add in the correct lighting additions for the airfield to the pmc_data config.Just config entries.

If i spent the time making a composition for it i wanna be able to play on the merged version of the wrp straight away.The next update might not come for a long time.A4 coming soon m8!

Terrains in Vietnam: The Experience ArmA 3 mod do not include U-Tapao-Rayong-Pattaya International Airport in thailand, I have never released thailand terrain. Here is all the available VTE ArmA 3 terrains today.


How do ppl link there missions on steam to your torrents?


Never used steam for missions so I have no idea.

Any help would be appreciated. pboProject binarizing either small data pbo or even the whole terrain wont take that long, also making a new release is rather quick, however because its gigabytes in size I would not want to make a new release just few config like changes. But maybe I could touch up the openstreetmap natural (forest tree lines) shapefile coverage and generate new objects maybe, something like that.


You gonna give it a go? Some WIP screenshots would be cool.


Runway objects, lighting (assuming you mean runway lights?) objects, in a composition, yeah that sounds good to me.

Cool.I have 2 fractures in my shoulder aswell as healing from a repeating shoulder dislocation atm.Not able to get much done the last 3 weeks.:(

Getting in touch with mondkalb to get permission to include his taxi/runway signs in your data.pbo would be a nice touch aswell.Can use them alot for these large terrains.

What ya think about the taxi/ramp area's? Use the ground tex? Need to change to a concrete tex.Like in Malden.Also , the taxiway etc needs the clutter removed.Is there a class concrete surface character for it?
