Jinef 2 Posted April 18, 2003 Uhh, keep the Kiowa's downwash as it's realistic, but the MH47 rips out grass in real life, so that needs to be shown. I like the Kegetys script but it is too symmetrical, i know i'm being picky but Rotors don't apply equal force everywhere, most of the time and a hover has to be constantly corrected. I know you can't change the flight model that much from the BIS simplified fly-like-you-drive system but maybe you could make it more sensitive to input than the helicopters that you have to litterally yank on the control column to do anything. But anyway, tell us about the rangers a bit, as OFP is mainly infantry anyway. The goggles look like they don't have straps on, is this to eliminate the bug where the graphics would warp when you turned your head?

Long time no play m8, come on over, I have some cracking guys you can use...... If you really fully opened a ramp in the air, the effect on the helicopter is very bad, it can be half open at most mid-flight. We've done what we think will be best...... jotte 0 Posted April 18, 2003 I mixed up the Kiowa (which is very good) rotorwash with the one on the Comanche (which to me looks to much like a doughnut ring)... Sorry guys. *blush* If its like on the Kiowa I have nothing to object to.

I'm sure this addon is going to be great. He/She probably told you what i just said about uneven rotor force. What helicopters does he fly, i might know him. Chomps 0 Posted April 18, 2003 What I think would be awesome would be an animation on the chopper that lowers visible ropes from all of the realistic exits. The animation would not be controlled by the action menu, but could be called up by an included rappel script which triggers the animation, and also unloads and runs rappeling animations for all the troops. Just a thought, I am sure whatever you have or have thought of already is a much better idea.

Jinef 2 Posted April 19, 2003 Cool, i probably wouldn't know him though. The RAF is very good when it comes to helicopters, but there are rumours that the AAC is better! Project UK forces is in collaboration with BAS right. So am i right in assuming that we are also going to get some nice high quality UK helicopters?

silent_64 0 Posted April 19, 2003 OHHHH YESSSSSSSS............... They say a picture is worth a thousand words..... And it's true!!! WOW..... Gimme gimme!
Guest jacobaby Posted April 19, 2003 Damned Tigershark and his Photoshop............ Isn't that Snypir support pack in action?? I CAN reveal THIS much........ Attaching to moving models in OFP is very difficult, especially in MP scenario's. When you "get in" a vehicle, you actually leave your body behind, and become a camera inside the vehicle. (you can test that by setting a marker to update to your position every 2 secs and then fly around in a helicopter) Its all to do with proxies, which are models within models. So really, fast roping from a moving vehicle could look fairly dreadful, especially with slow refreshes in MP. You would need a means of keeping the helo stationary. Its the same problem with transporting vehicles, sure we have a cargo version of the mh47. with folded seats, and you can drive a jeep right in, but as you all know by now, if you take off the jeep goes nuts...... Tigershark says a picture paints a thousand words.........I guess that one will start a thousand rumours.... TJ

You can't fastrope like that.... Is't that you're trying to tell us TJ?
Guest jacobaby Posted April 19, 2003 I can tell you three facts; Tigershark is a MASTER with photoshop. You CAN ALREADY rope like that with Snypirs support pack. I wrote all the scripts for the MH47E, so I do have a clue.. Actually make that four facts...... Players CANNOT rope out of the back of the MH47E. Sorry if that disappoints, but im sure the other options will provide some relief from your despair. TJ
GoOB 0 Posted April 19, 2003 Just a quick question from the local BAS-fanboy The former RAF pilot is Ofpeditor and not Evis right? Or is it someone else that i never see on the IRC channel? By the way back to more related things. The chopper looks great and those flares Very nice work folks, i cant wait to see it on my HD with an updated demo-mission. The current one is kinda boorish. peanuckle_00 0 Posted April 19, 2003 Can't you just imagine the excitement from playing a mission where you fastrope into danger. For more immersion let the ai pick their own targets. Also the gunner can use third person view now and alert the pilot when a missile comes in so he can activate the flares. The player who is pilot could even encircle the area firing down on targets, picking up soldiers and taking them to various points on the map upon request. Players who seperate into different roles can all have fun at the same time!
