Hopefully they'll be out soon, since there aren't any T-62s and the only T55 is the BIS one.

As far as I know the T-64 is pretty similar if not the same as the T-72.Is a new T-64 addon really necessary?I mean all you could do is add a few details to the hull of the standard BIS T-72 and you'd have a T-64 no?Correct me if I'm wrong smile.gif

There are notable differences, some pics to compare:

T-64

t64-1.gif

T-72

t72-1.gif

(gotta hate gifs)

T-64 looks like a mixture of M60 Patton and T-55.

A T-72 is a Simplified version of a T-64. A T-64 has different suspension system, and it can fire a At-8 Kobra missle. I believe it also uses a different engine that was notorius for unreliability and a "shaking" problem.

The T-72 was created to make a cheaper, more reliable Tank for export. T-64s were never exported, but still make up about 25% of front-line soviet tank regiments.

I say its a good idea to make a T-64 addon, because Russia still uses so many.

As to the question about the Red Star studios T-54/55 addon, well I don't know tounge.gif. But Ash released a T55G addon awhiles back. Its pretty much a retextured resistance T-55 with soviet markings and color scheme.

I saw Ash's T55 addon at ofpinfo.com. I enjoy using it, it makes great target practice for my Abrams. smile.gif

Even if they were similar you can't edit the BIS models because they encoded or in a different format or something.

The T-72 can fire laser guided AT missile...Can't remember the name.

Here are some technical details for comparison :

1973 - Soviet T-72M  MBT

Armament:   1 - 125mm 2A46 smooth bore gun

                       1 - 7.62mm MG coaxial

1 - 12.7mm remote controlled DShK AA MG

Engine:           Model V-46, V-12, diesel or multi-fuel, 840 hp

Speed:           50  mph

Range:           278 miles

Crew:             3

Weight:          48.9  tons

1967 - Soviet T-64 MBT

Armament         1 - 125mm (2A46) D81TM smooth bore gun

                          1 - 7.62mm MG coaxial

                          1 - 12.7mm (NSV)AA MG

Engine:             10 cyl. opposed piston Model 5DTF multi-fuel diesel

750 hp, coupled to power-assisted transmission

Speed:             46 mph

Range:             310 miles

Crew:               3

Weight:            43 tons

I'd say the differences are rather small, not really big enough to justify a completely new tank, but I like the idea anyway.Just thought I'd point this out.Of course new tanks are good. You'll have to excuse me as I appear to be slightly intoxicated  smile.gif  smile.gif  smile.gif  smile.gif  smile.gif

Well, really T64 and T72 had only similar turrets and some parts of propulsion system. But even T72 turrets was modified comparing with those of T64. Tank were different constructions. T72 evolued from marriage of T62 and T64 weapon system idea and later became T90. T64 still lives in T80`s skin. Oh, and all of those, plus late versions of T55, are still in service in Russia.

I think there is need of new tank models. Those from BIS (great guys, however) have some bugs, bad proportions etc. Tank models like those by Sigma are really nice and could be a base for another modifications (after author rights` talks smile.gif). I wish I could see PT-91 Twardy, Polish modification of T72, with one of the best world`s reactive armor.

I am waiting for new T55. Nice to see Iraqis tank with some applique armor or those with 125 mm gun...

Goddamn... Soul_Assasin... some idea :]

Have you seen the randomly assigned numbers on AirwolfPL's Mi-2 Policie? well... even if it would take one month more to the T-55 Pack... just imagin... big number on each tank... each number different... that would rule :}}}
