Just thinking

Recommended Posts

I think the uniforms of the spec ops from the ofp cwc suck! I mean the black one is sort of ok, for nights but its too dark enemys can see you. And for the day one, i mean tats not a special forces soldier. confused.gif . The spetz natz are kinda kool.

I just hope that Bis fixes this thing in OFP2 Can't wait!!!

P.s. I am no fashion police but the comofluged uniforms , Suck.

I am very happy with OFP's standard units.

However, I think I can diagnose your negative opinion as the result of some fantastic unofficial unit addons that have been released to the community. Just one look at the BAS Delta and Ranger units and we've become spoiled - happily so. smile.gif

So, there's no question that BIS' could have been better. But I don't regret for a moment to continue to play missions that use the standard OFP unit.

I think it depends on what kind of units the "Black Ops" really are.

I'm pretty sure they are Army "Special Forces" since they say so in the game.

But in general Special Forces work in small groups, not alone.

I think the "Black Ops" are a very specific specialized unit created out of the Special Forces group.

Therefore it would be difficult to determine what their normal combat uniforms look like.

But for most situations, standard camoflauge works fine.

That's why nearly all units, regular infantry or Specal Operations wear them.

It blends in well with the color of the foliage, and works well day or night.

I think it's odd that they wear those dark black uniforms though.

That is pretty unusual. Dark black is rarely worn as a way of concealment into the darkness as since dark black stands out even in the darkest nights.

Dark grey, blue, or green would be a better choice.

Actually spec ops forces do wear black but only during hostage rescue situations and not for camouflage. Apparently by wearing black it gives the troopers a psychological edge over their opponents, as black is perceived as the colour of evil. By wearing it the soldier subconsciously believes himself to be more powerful and therefore better prepared for the operation. Basically it gives him a PMA, Positive Mental Attitude!!

Look at these pics from op Nimrod where the SAS stormed the Iranian Embassy in April 1980.

In the cutscene where Col. Blake promotes Armstrong to Leutanant, he introduces Gastovski as "Special Forces". Special Forces is only one unit, that's Army Special Forces.

All the rest are "Special Operations Units".

Hmm, I think Ed Harris was definitely NOT a SEAL in that movie. I'm pretty sure he was Marine Force Recon.

Please tell me that was sarcasm calling it a 'great' movie!! I cannot believe that the FBI and the SEALs in that movie could be so stupidly incompetent. I know its an action movie so didn't expect any witty or clever dialogue but the filler lines in between the action sequences particularly the attempts at comedy were to be frank, painful.

Any back on topic; didn't the SEALs that went into Alcatraz wear black ninja suits? Do the SEALs actually use that James Bondesque underwater car in real life?

Answers on a postcard please!!

Does it really matter how the uniforms look? Personally, I didn't give a second thought to the Black Op outfit. I thought it looked fine...

i don't really think BIS had a special unit in mind during the creation of OFP's BlackOps, or even the standart Infantry units. they mixed everything, Rangers, Seals, Deltas,... biggrin.gif

I didn't know that spec ops were limited to the kind of uniforms they wear. Does it have to be special kit with a label on the inside saying "for special forces use only". The black op day kit is fine, they only made it different to the standard soldier to make it look different. What do you think they should be wearing?
