Hopperfly22 0 Posted April 9, 2003 Hello I have a few questions about a mod I've been thinking about doing. I've been using Milkshape 3D, and have gotten pretty good at modelling just about anything, but people. I can do people, but I'm picky and they never look real enough for me. Anyway I'm not sure if I can even use Milkshape 3D to do modelling for OFP. If I have to have 3D Studio Max then forget about it. I've always wondered why games are made so they can be modded, but take a $1500 program to do so. Besides with some fiddling Milkshape seems compatible with a lot of programs. Plus I can do photoskinning with it for realistic looking weapons. I want to do a WWI mod because I feel that the openness of OFP would be well suited to the weapons of that era. So my first question is there already somebody working on a WWI mod? And can I use Milkshape 3D to do the models?
coporal_punishment 0 Posted April 9, 2003 A World War I mod would be awsome. Just a quicky would you only be concentrating on the western front or will you do all fronts
-Ash- 0 Posted April 9, 2003 There was a WW1 mod a while ago called 'The Great War' http://www.great-war.com/ Dunno if they are still going or not though....
N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted April 9, 2003 If you can save models in 3ds-format then you can open them in Oxygen and import to OFP. *EDIT* My 700th post
cam0flage 0 Posted April 9, 2003 I think a WWI mod would be very difficult to make for OFP: maybe if we will have dynamic terrain in OFP2 it could work out. I mean, it would be pretty dull without the trenches and shellholes. A fuctioning artillery would also be essential for a WWI mod. Anyway, if you are giving it a go, lets hope that OFP addons will be compatible with OFP2
kevbaz 0 Posted April 9, 2003 02 will NOT open milkshape saved 3ds files, for some reason it dont like em, so you gotta import em into 3d max then re-save em as a 3ds file, then 02 will open em. WW1 would be kinda kewl, but it will rely heavily on trenches, and just how authentic lookin you can make em

Guest BratZ Posted April 9, 2003 WW1 Mod here : http://members.lycos.nl/nomansland/ Not much activity since the nice Fokker tho. I also have a Fokker DRI that I made as one of my first models. I thought about making just WW1 planes to get away from the tailgunner problem, but you would be surprised the amount of tailgunned WW1 planes too. WW1 mod sounds nice and fits the engine well (asides the tailgunner) But you are also missing other important items that would difficult to make: Horses, Bayonets
