Koolkid101 0 Posted February 26, 2003 My Operaton Flashpoint Resistance C.D is scracthed really badly so I want to repair it with one of those pastes, is it legal to do that, and will it still work?
theavonlady 2 Posted February 26, 2003 Why don't you call Codemasters and ask what it would cost to exchange it for a sparkling new one?
Die Alive 0 Posted February 26, 2003 Well, I got this "Game Doctor" thing, it's a hand held - hand operated device that removes light and medium scratches from CDs. I tried it so far only on music CDs, and of the 5 CDs that I had that were scratched, 3 of them were fixed, the other 2 I guess were too badly scratched to be fixed. I got it at Electronic Boutique this pass summer. I figure I got nothing to lose, if I fix the CD with it, good for me, if not, then I'm just breaking the CD some more. -=Die Alive=-
Koolkid101 0 Posted February 26, 2003 How do you post a screen shot? Cause its like messing up my game all the colors are weird, and I know its a legit cd of operation flashpoint.
bn880 5 Posted February 26, 2003 It's legal to do that, you should try it out. Hopefully the top coated surface is stil ok... then you should be able to revive it with enough polishing.

Koolkid101 0 Posted February 26, 2003 I'm sorta gonna change my statement above, theres a lot of scrathes but none of them are deep. Maybe all the weird things that are suddenly happening are things that happened cause i tinkered with the video options but I sorta doubt that.
Mister Frag 0 Posted February 26, 2003 I've fixed numerous CDs and DVDs with a "Skip Doctor", which is the same thing as the "Game Doctor" and "DVD Doctor". I have never had to use it on any of my own media, but I have a friend who's got a 3-year old girl that has damaged DVD movies, education software CDs, and music CDs. Some of them were very badly damaged with deep scratches in the disk surface, and required several complete polishing passes, but the "Skip Doctor" has always been able to fix it. It has also been able to remove permanent marker that was used on the wrong side of a CD. Anyway, if, after polishing the surface, you can still see the scratches, repeat the process again, remembering to use the small spray bottle to wet the disk properly. Clean off and dry the disk after each pass. The only thing that will stop the "Skip Doctor" is when all of the clear polycarbonate material is gone and the reflective surface or dye layer are exposed. Until that happens, it doesn't matter how much of the protective layer you polish off.

But seriously folks.................. You can find out if it was some preference or option you changed by temporarily renaming two OFP files: 1. OFP\Flashpoint.cfg 2. OFP\Users\your_player_name\Userinfo.cfg If you temporarily rename these and restart OFP, is the problem still there?
Koolkid101 0 Posted February 26, 2003 I've like tryed to change the settings a couple of times now, when i first get in the game everythings normal, but this week when i try to change the options the colors get all weird. Do you people think its a problem with the cd, my computer or my settings. Note Operation Flashpoint Resistence used to work fine. And when I downloaded kegyts winter nogova it wouldn't work because it said I was out of some sorta video memory thing.

If so, then delete the new copy of OFP\Flashpoint.cfg that was just created and run the OFP Resistance Preferences Program and click AUTODETECT. Only then should you start OFP.
