Robots rule!

Recommended Posts

I am VERY against the idea of creating robots.

The fact that we have computers and electronics(I only really support inventions that are purely mechanical in nature) is bad enough, but now ROBOTs???

I don't understand people who keep wanting more and more technology. If anything we should be trying to limit the advance of technology, and focusing on gradually eliminating technology.

Yes yes, I know I am contradicting myself by using this computer and internet. Unfortunately it's kind of necessary for me right now being that I need to study and do research. Maybe in a few years when I am done studying, and am stabilized I will completely stop using computers and the internet.

I could go on and on about how terrible this is, but I didn't sleep very well last night and I am kindof drowsy right now.

Because technology itslelf is not a good thing, it's a bad thing. And a robot itself represents what all technology is about. It's the face of all things that we should be working against.

TECHNOLOGY IS TAKING OVER THIS WORLD!!!!

People have gone NUTS over technology!! It doesn't make any sense to me. It's like all out of some hellish nightmare. The internet, palm pilots, home appliances ... etc.

I don't how the hell we got to where we are now today, but I don't like it.

Technology does the things that shoudn't be done. It's just a matter of principle.

Sure you could have a little robot going around doing all your chores. But that's soo cheap. Ever been to a cheap hooker when you were too horny to know better? Know that feeling you get after you're done and she has your money? Wasn't worth it, was it?

Technology is like that.

I can understand if you had said "an a-bomb represents what technology is all about - and we should be working against it"....cause that can be considered a very bad thing....but robots??

And also.....life without technology....how boring!!

Without technology, you wouldnt be able to rant here wink.gif

Technology is not in and of itself bad. It's just the application of technology that can make it bad.

Now, i will agree that there is a lot of gratuitous uses of technology. DVD players and LCD screens in cars are a good example. But it's better than having a world where you cant communicate easily with people outside your general area, or have the medical technology to cure the ills that ail you.

technology evil? Naaaw.

w/out technology you wouldn't be able to give a organ transplant to somebody who needed something like a heart or liver

w/out technology you would have to hire somebody to hike from the east coast of the U.S. to the West coast to deliver a distance relative a invitation to a wedding.

w/out technology we would still would still have to use coal plants that caused alot of air polution

w/out technology we wouldn't be able to cure dieases and wouldn't have created penicilian, small pox vacine, and even asprin

w/out technology we wouldn't have OFP and other great video games movies and music

w/out technology you would have to pay like 4 or 5 dollars for a stupid pen or pencil because every peice would have to be hand made

w/out technology we wouldn'd have plastic (which makes things possible don't ya know)

w/out technology we wouldn't be able to easily construch massive bridges needed to cross water

and the most important:

w/out technology we wouldn't have Cartoon Network and TechTV! we all can't live w/out that now can we smile.gif

You mentioned the manufacture of plastic, and pens.

When I say that I am against "technology", I mean "electronics" and "digital technology".

I have no problem with mechanical inventions such as pens, or the manufacture of pens. Or bicycles.

Mechanical functions in a natural manner.

Hello

The problem is not technology

The problem is when technology have predominance on human being.

When technology means unemployment, i strongly disagree with its usage.

When technology means good assistance to save human life , i am strongly for its usage wink.gif

So it is more a case by case problem (or not problem) than a global one.

Now for OFP , i have a difficult opinion

On one side, it is one of the best game i have ever played thanks to technology , on the other side it has taken a lot of my free time to have fun with the mission editor , damn technology biggrin.gif

But at the same time I still do not really trust ANY form of technology.

Mechanical technology just doesn't worry me as much.

I'm just curious, Icefire.....If the world was the way you wanted it, without the advancements we have come to, what would you suggest everyone do to not go insane. We obviously couldnt invent much to pass time...that would eventually lead to what we know now...like evil computers and devilish toaster ovens... wow.gif

What? You think there weren't things to do to pass time before people started creating these things???

Of course you would find things to do! Please tell me you do more than just sit in the front of your computer all day.

I don't think I even really used a computer before HighSchool.

And in HighSchool I was too busy doing other things to really bother with computers and games and things like that.

In my spare time we would find parties to go to.

Hmm, no technology there. In elementary school, I used to play baseball all the time. Or collect baseball cards.

Or you could take up a hobby, play pool, or build birds feeders.

No technology at the parties....was there no music...no tv...did you not drive there in a car, that also had a cd player...and these baseball cards...were they hand crafted?

Anyways...listen..im not tying to piss you off here and get in some scuff. We just have different views and thats all there is to it...

And by the way....no I don't spend all of my time on the computer. Due to current money issues my main hobby right now is work sadly. I think most of my friends are pissed at me since I dont have much time to do anything because of it. It sucks. But, I might note here...that we joined this forum around the same time...yet you outpost me by like ten times.... wink.gif

just because it has little or no technology in it self, doesn't mean it wasn't built by technology. technology created the injection molds and other machines that mold plastic into bottle's, water containers and the incubaters in hospitles where new born babies kept. technology of robotics is needed especially for construction of 8 mile long bridges that are over 100 feet high. i certianly wouldn't wana be working by man power alone w/ such a construction. robots also great for using to disarm bombs, mines, and dealing w/ nuclear material instead of having to send a live person in and have a risk of being harmed.

The work will evolve to other forms. Just like it evolved when the industrialization of the world took place.

and just as it has evolved in our recent past , the closing of most of the heavy industries or the replacement of human personnel with machines lead to an explosion of the sector of the services (third work sector)

ah yes but what would happen if we ever reached a stage where robots done most of the work and where most ppl could sit back and relax smile.gif

RedOct, most of those jobs you mentioned(except for the one regarding radiation) can be handled by highly trained people.

I wouln't trust some cold creepy "robot" to do any of those things.

I don't trust ANY of these damn machines. You would trust these bizarre abominations to deal with these things over your fellow man??

Oh, and Der Bastler, I don't know what you are trying to imply?? Just because I don't understand them doesn't HAVE to be the reason I HATE them. These things defy understanding anyways. Only those creators of these damn machines can understand them.

Do YOU claim to understand all this technology out there?? Have you ever tried figuring out half the bizarre contraptions out there? I don't think ANYONE can, nor should we trust them.

As a matter of fact, just today I went out to buy some more rams for my computer.

I called my computer customer support to tell me how to put them in. He said that I had to open it up first.

I have no idea what the hell I'm doing! I swear to god these goddamm machines are DESIGNED to be confusing!!!!
