Alakaluf 0 Posted February 2, 2003 The models look very good! Will you make a scoped version of the m16+m203 too?
JJFLY 1 Posted February 2, 2003 AWWW YEAH! PLEASE MAKE US A SAW AND/OR A M240 so these will be perfect!
earl 0 Posted February 2, 2003 I'm going to start with a big disclaimer: I can't promise to get though everything - There's a lot I want to do for this, and I'm really excited about it, but I've been modding very consistently for a long time, and starting to burn out... However, what I want to do is a full weapon pack - M16s for the marines, M4s for Force Recon, M249 SAW, M240G for machinegunners, M40A3 for snipers.
JJFLY 1 Posted February 2, 2003 GRACIAS what else can we do to help, i have no modding experience but i can def motivate!
earl 0 Posted February 2, 2003 Have pizza and beer delivered to: Earl Laamanen 8965 132nd Street Surrey, BC, Canada Then I shouldn't have to leave my house  I have the MacMillan A4 stock done for the M40A3 - It looks awesome.  I'll have a completed model showing in a few hours. Alakaluf, I don't think I'll do a scoped M16/M203.  I think it would be too good, I like balancing weapons for gameplay - so you can choose the M16/ACOG for long range, or the M16/M203 with iron sights for more firepower.  Plus it spreads the capabilities across the unit - you can have 'marksmen' with ACOGs and grenadiers with M203s, not both depending on one man.  I'm not sure what the real-life assignments are. chaztheducky 0 Posted February 2, 2003 look alot like your ghost recon weapons. not that its a bad thing. if something works stick with it and are you old enough for beer?
mr. Duck 0 Posted February 2, 2003 Well I say it looks very promising. Those marines WILL be an outstanding addon. By the way, wich sounds are you gonna use for this one? Standard ofp sounds? Or custom realistic (whatever that may be) ones? *orders beer and pizza at local pizzeria, cancels order when finding out that they don't deliver there* Â
chaztheducky 0 Posted February 2, 2003 yes they will. or they will be the biggest dissapointment in the history of ofp
Liquid_Silence 0 Posted February 3, 2003 M40! I love you Earl
OxPecker 0 Posted February 3, 2003 Not to sound like an A-hole, but aren't their already enough M4/M16 packs out there to cover every concievable variant? Anyway, good luck with your addon, hope it turns out well. Â
blackdog~ 0 Posted February 3, 2003 But without the same maker they will all look mismatched and different.
Cloney 0 Posted February 3, 2003 These are M16A4s and to date there are no M16A4 addons so this will be a first and it is looking *very* promising indeed.
earl 0 Posted February 3, 2003 >>Mr Duck>> You can call 1 (604) 310-0001, they can deliver to me. Â And I will be using new sounds - probably adapted from Ghost Recon, but with a bit of modification. >>Chaztheducky>> They might look like the GR models, but I can assure you that it was a lot of work and research to fix them up for FPP. Â My SR47 suffers from a bad receiver - I didn't really understand the complete shape, but cycling through a folder full of M16 and M4 images, I finally managed to figure out a reasonably accurate design. Â It can be difficult if you've never used the rifle in real life. >>Liquid Silence>> I think you'll be happy with the one I've got for ya. >>Oxpecker>> Yeah, you're right. Â I don't really want to do another version of Colt rifles, but Suchey's marines are so damn sweet - they really need their own set of weapons that look at feel consistent across the board. Â I have no intention of competing with anyone else's M4's and M4's and M4's. Â And now for the M40A3 with MacMillan A4 stock, MilStd 1913 rail, 10x Unertl scope, and Harris bipod: This one is abot 1440 triangles - pretty high, but I got lazy on the bipod. I can probably cut 40-50 off there, and with the right side deleted for FPP, it should fall around 1150-1200. The nearest TPP will be around 1350, and that's only when you stick your nose right against it.
Cloney 0 Posted February 3, 2003 Earl, Will you be adding those Laser Aiming devices? I'm not sure about their designation (AN/PEQ or something) but they look like they have become somewhat standard on most rifles given to the troops.
CanadianTerror 0 Posted February 3, 2003 That MacMillan looks sweet but you really do need a Canadian sniper behind it before it works properly.
earl 0 Posted February 3, 2003 I'm not sure Cloney.  I would like to, but I'm already getting heartburn over the poly counts  I think Force Recon's M4 SOPMOD will have the larger AN/PEQ-2 which has an IR laser and an IR illuminator.  I don't think it's possible to have this working in OFP though, so it would just be for looks and accuracy of the model  I'll have to think about whether or not to put them on M16s.  From what I heard though, the PAQ-4's are older and getting phased out by the PEQ-2's.  Right now officers get the PEQ-2 while everyone else is still using PAQ-4's. CanadianTerror > It's an M40A3, made at Quantico's Precision Weapons Shop.  It's a Remington 700 action with a MacMillan Tactical A4 stock, not a MacMillan rifle. Anybody know what sidearm Force Recon is using now? From an article at at www.forcerecon.com they don't seem to like the M9, but are they still using the MEU(SOC) version of the 1911? chaztheducky 0 Posted February 3, 2003 as far as i know the marines are still using the m9 for normal troops but the .45 for meu and mout (or mount dunno witch ) and so they are your ghost recon models? they still look G R E A T
CanadianTerror 0 Posted February 3, 2003 oops, I think I need glasses *shudders* What kind of time period are we looking at for this btw? Will the marine's release have to wait for the guns?
chaztheducky 0 Posted February 3, 2003 as far as i can tell... shave a few polies off here and there + skin the guns + get most of the bugs worked out + get ingame + test thourghly = 2-3 weeks (mabye ) and i beleve the marines will have to wait for the guns
CrunchyFrog 0 Posted February 3, 2003 What about the M240 and M249 for the USMC machinegunners?

<span id='postcolor'> The number of M240 & M249 / FN minimi & FN mag (along with all of their other designations) add-ons coming out is second only to the number of M4 packs. Stick with weapons that haven't been done, or at least haven't been done properly yet.
earl 0 Posted February 3, 2003 The weapons I make will be included the with USMC soldiers, and I'd prefer one standalone package I'll be making a new M240G and M249. Sorry about flooding the scene with new weapons - I understand why you don't want to see more of the same. Suchey's taking great care to make very nice soldiers for each class - and it's my job to make sure they have equally good weapons that are all consistent. mr. Duck 0 Posted February 3, 2003 Dude try to ask BAS for using their M249 for them marines. And about the M240, is the M240 from crielaard good enough? It saves time me thinks...
