A map making program,do i need one?

The 3d Studio Max is friggen expensive.Is there some kind of 3D program that we have to use like that one?The 3D Studio one is used to make stuff like maps for Ghost Recon and such.

The programs for ofp are free, for 3d modelling there is Objektiv2Light (Also known as Oxygen, youll need both the viewer and oxygen light, and grab everything else on there), for world making you'll need WrpEdit v0.93 and some other tools, they will be outlined in tutorials, best place i know of for them is OFP Editing Center WrpEdit Forum
