Longinius 1 Posted January 4, 2003 I got to thinking just now and I came up with a small idea, and I'd like to see what ya'll think about it. The Offtopic forum here has become a forum where many things are discussed. To me, the most interesting things are politics and news, and the greatest thing with this forum is that there are people from all nations, all walks of life and all "sides" to a story. Most of us here, who like to discuss politics and news, all have our own opinions all ready. I doubt we can change that. But, the thing is, we get along any way. And we discuss important issues, we inform each other of local news (and national news), thus listing different sides and versions of a story. Since we all know media is tricky, biased and at worst a bunch of lieing snakes, this is indeed a good thing. So, I just wanted to know if there is an interest among the people here to start up a seperate forum from OFP, where these things are discussed. A private channel to relay, and recieve, information from all over the globe. I would be glad to host it and everything, I just need to know if there is an interest... I always like getting as much information as possible from different sides concerning a topic, because the truth is out there and it`s somewhere in the middle. After all, we can post all that stuff in this forum, and without it, this forum'll be dead before you know it. Spam isn't allowed, pointless threads aren't allowed, only serious threads are allowed. So basically when everyone would post their 'serious' topics on the other forum, this forum won't have much activity... ralphwiggum 6 Posted January 4, 2003 hhmm...this sounds more like one of those 'traditional' grass root organization uprising..... my suggestion is that you start with php/xml/cgi based website instead of plain HTML. you'll end up with loads of news sooner or later, so having somesort of control through such means would make your just a heck of a lot easier. Â it gets kind of old to me reading the same depressing "what if (war)" bla, and other super serious threads.. damn folks, lighten up a touch.. im not asking for greased midget tossing in the halls of congress.. just allow a few FUN threads once in a while.. Â not post whoring or anything like that.. but stuff like "post a funny picture" or other things whos only purpose is to make others laugh.. sheesh man, one can not exist on politics and weapon comparisons, and theoretical plot twists in history alone!!
