Milkman 1 Posted January 1, 2003 I cant understand how a BMP with its 33mm of armor and PETROLIUM filled doors can survive a direct hit from a HEAT shell from an M60a2, but the M2A2 Bradley with its spaced, composite-layered steel cant survive a HEAT shell from a T55!!! Why is the Bradley made so weak in this game??
LBGS_Stewart 0 Posted January 1, 2003 i dont know how much of a comparison this would be to a T55 heat shell. but a ofp gamer friend of mine who was in the gulf war. he was a egniner and i alittle battle where he whitness one bradly accidently firing a TOW into another bradly. he said the turret flew off and eveyone inside was killed. so in reality maybe the bradly isnt that strong as you may think. i am shure the people in that bradly that are no longer with ous wish it was stonger. nyles 11 Posted January 1, 2003 Bradleys are not build to survive such shots. Its more a battlefield taxi then a tank. One thing in OFP that bothers me much more about the M2 is that a human tank commander has almost no chances to get to know whats around him without 3rd person. The limited commander view may be realistic, but there should at least be the option to tell AI gunners where to point the turret.
toadeater 0 Posted January 1, 2003 The radar you get in OFP is more than tank commanders get in real life, and they definitely don't get a 3rd person view. One thing I find annoying is that you can't turn around fully when in unbuttoned mode. Do all tank commanders in OFP have stiff necks or something?
Eviscerator 0 Posted January 1, 2003 the BMP has 19mm of armour in the hull and 23mm in the turret, i just did a couple of tests, with an m60 looking straight at a bmp and a t55 looking straight at an m2a2, i fired one heat shell straight at the middle of the rear of the BMP from the m60 and it survived, i then fired a heat shell straight at the middle of the rear of the M2A2 with the T55 and it survived, i then turned the m2a2 and bmp around and fired one heat shell from the m60 onto the upper slope of the hullon the bmp, and it survived (new game), i then fired one heat shell from the t55 onto the upper slope of the hull of the m2a2, and it survived, a second shot would make it blow up after about 20-30 seconds for both of them, i then checked the config and both the bmp and the m2a2 have the same armour values (200), so there isnt really much point for this post
shadow 6 Posted January 1, 2003 I have'nt checked the armour-values of the Bradley and the BMP , but I have always had the impression Eviscerator just prooved
