Lo all, just installed Flashpoint and the Gold Upgrade and got it up to version 1.46 (Hope thats right) and was just wondering.....

whats the best way for a newbie like myself to get into this game and hopefully get half decent at it?

Any particular maps/modes/etc I should do first?

welcome to the community.

here are some basic rules that you should know when using this forum.

1. don't swear at other members. respect them whether they respect you or not.

2. SEARCH before you post

3. do not cross post or double post.

4. and as always, look at the forum rules, and follow it

for starter, i'd suggest working on campagin in cadet mode. finish it and you'll be done with basics.

one SP mission i suggest is 01:Steal the Car. a good solo mission to test yourself against AIs.

just to keep you updated, there is an expansion pack called OFP:Resistance. hardcore OFP lovers have it, and it contains improved netcode and better island and some mission making improvements.

if you have really hard time aiming and etc., one thing you could do is using mission editor to make yourself a simple mission of 1 enemy and you and try shooting the enemy.

this game is not your average shoot and kill fragfest game. you need to act as if you are really in a war.

here are some topics that you can read.some frustration you might feel

Online guide for newbies

also, here are other websites that is useful

ofp.gamezone.cz (also known as ofp.info)

www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq - excellent unofficial OFP FAQ website by a member

www.ofpec.com - another great source for getting helps on your needs in mission editing aspect.

and finally, if you want to learn how to use mission editor, try 'Johna Gustavson's editor tutorial'. it should be availalbe in OFPEC(www.ofpec.com)

OK thanks for the replies.

I'm looking for a map I saw a friend play a while ago.

I think it was called Battle 2000 or something similar?

Anyone know where I can get it?

Google didn't help sad.gif

Welcome xmas.gif

I think you're thinking of Battlefield 1985, I've seen dedicated servers playing it but I haven't been able to find it for download anywhere..

Good OFP sites (with maps for download also):

If you want a load of single player missions, that get reviewed by people and given scores on every aspect, instead of just put up for the hell of it. Check out the OFPEC Missions Depot. Its updated regularly with new missions. Good resource. Not as good as when i worked there though! tounge.gif

Yes the OFPEC mission depo is very good, it would be better with more reviewers as it can take months for a mission to get reviewed.
