Tex -USMC- 0 Posted December 21, 2002 Let me put it this way: Battlefield's rampant disregard for historical accuracy clearly shows that the developers have no interest or respect for their subject matter, and are only cashing in on gamers' sick fascination with either shooting Nazis or being Nazis. Have they ever said that what they want is a historically accurate game? I don't think they have... So, everytime a game is based on something that happened a long time ago, that game should be perfectly the same as what happened then, or else the game is just made to get some cash out of it? Sheesh, do you think the developers made OFP just to make it historically accurate and realistic? They just made it so they could earn some money while we shoot some russian folks. Exactly the same as what you say about BF... BF has been made so people can play it and have fun, and so that the developers get money. It hasn't been made to respect 'the subject'. If you ask me, some people take realism and historical accuracy way to serious... I bet 80% of all games are historically inaccurate... ps: If i'm correct, in bf you fight against russians and the Japanese with allied troops. (or you fight as russians or the japanese). The Russians and the Japanese weren't Nazis, were they? So actually it's not made just to kill Nazis or to be Nazis ps#2: Have allied troops actually ever fought the Russians? I always thought the Russian army wasn't an enemy. Yes yes, i know BF isn't historically correct, and i don't care. I just want to know this...
USMC Sniper 0 Posted December 21, 2002 Allied troops NEVER fought against Russian or Soviet troops, directly though. The US provided weapons to the mujahadeen to be used agaisnt Soviets, and the Soviets and China armed the NVA and VC. So they fought each other indirectly. Besides that, the Russians are Allies in BF1942, but that doesn't make a difference.

Col. Kurtz 0 Posted December 22, 2002 What I hate is how BF1942 is advertised as been realistic and authentic, and the true WW2 experiance. Dont even get me started on the bloody Operation Market Garden mission, Americans at Arnhem! Despicable and insulting.
FSPilot 0 Posted December 22, 2002 And that clip with the medic flying an airplane made me chuckle. Come on. I know we're not going to get a perfect historical reinactment, but lets try to be serious. WWII needs to be taken seriously. Making games out of it is fine, but try to have some respect for what actually happened. It's ridiculous how blatantly unrealistic this game got. Even for a video game. DarkLight 0 Posted December 22, 2002 Yes you might all be right, this game is not realistic at all, it doesn't show much respect for what happened about 60 years ago but i still enjoy playing it on LAN once in a while when i go to a friend. Just for fun, when i'm having fun i don't really think a lot about the realism part
