Come on - admit it!

Recommended Posts

I'll be the first to admit it. OFP has caused me trouble. It's so hard to finish my grade at uni these days. So, I finally gave up playing. Yes, I uninstalled the game! I was supposed to be done with my grade in social anthropology before christmas, but because of a combination of lack of dicipline and an endless lust for playing flashpoint over and over again - in different ways - I did not do myself any favours. This has been a hard decision to make and in order to make my studying a bit easier I found out I had to distance myself from the forum as well. I have met many people I like on this forum, and I've experienced good discusions and interesting arguments, so it's not with an easy heart I leave you for now.

But school has to come first though - even if not playing OFP also should provide me some time to think about invading Denoirs beloved Sweden tounge.gif

It's been a pleasure to know you all !

i give you about 2 month before you comeback wink.gif

anyways this again proves that Swedes are far more intelligent, has more discipline, and is able to balance their lifestyle than Norweigians. thus Norway has nothing to brag about wink.giftounge.gif

hope your uni work turns ok. my school work isn't stellar in part due to OFP, but you have to set your priorities and we understand that.

good luck with your studies, and drop by occasionally.

and won't stop you from daydreaming about invading Sweden, since that will never happen. Sweden will kick your ass even when they are sleeping. tounge.gif

You could have handed in a great social anthropology paper on the effects of OFP addiction on human behavior and productivity patterns. You blew it bigtime! tounge.gif

To be honest I haven't played OFP in a while now. I'm getting back into flight sims (they're the FS in FSPilot).

Don't get me wrong, OFP is a great game, but there's just nothing new out for it now. Nothing exciting to me at least. tounge.gif

Here's one for your Social Anthropology paper.

Once upon a time there were two friends who enjoy playing computer games, mainly Q3. Then a demo was released called Operation Flashpoint. "Lets give it a look", said one to the other. And so they did.

Six months later they moved into the same house and networked up their computers. They started playing lots of Flashpoint together. As time went by, patch after patch was released. Then a little tool called WRPEdit was released. One of the friends decided to start making Islands for Operation Flashpoint....and he started to see less of the outside world. Not to be outdone, the other friend started learning a mysterious thing called Scripting.

Then one day an expansion called Resistance came along, and totally blew them away. "Could this get any better?" they said to themselves. Day after day they toiled, making and refining scripts and islands. Friends and family started to wonder what had happened to them. Their skin started to become white as snow, their eyes square in shape and their hands permanently in the mouse/keyboard configuration.

Now no-one has seen these two friends for months...who knows what has happened to them...

OFP take my time? Hmm....nah.....not really, i know how to limit myself.

*calls off going to the movies with his girlfriend because he has to "Find references about the ballistic information on a russian helicopter".......she has no f**king clue what he is talking about*

OFP is pretty low on my list of prorities right now. I have a relationship to worry about. biggrin.gif

Hard to say for me, at least I can stay busy all the time with OFP. I actually only play about 1% of the time. However I think it's good to take a few weeks or months break once in a while... and as sims get more and more realistic, I'll be repeating that one more often. xmas.gif

Haven't played for like one full year, i don't play a lot of games, all i do with this comp is check my email and some forums once in a while, and msn.

I find it hard to understand how some people spend whole their days behind their computers.

Go on people! Go out! Have fun! Live your life!

Good luck man.

Yes, it is stealing my precious time, but only untill January 3rd. Then I will be working in a 5star Resort on Koh Samui as EAM of F&B. The problem is only that I am a young unexperienced Mr. Knowitwall. So if I dont want to get my ass kicked by superiors I will have to work a lot. And they told me that I will have to face mostly days with 12-14 hours of work. In an office that is okay, but not in south-east-asian humidity. Where and when do I play OFP then? OH MY GOD? Maybe I can get my PC shipped there. But if I want to get upgrades it might be pretty tough since the connection run probably with 0.001 kp per hour! So what is paradise without OFP? Probably hell! xmas.gif

Wich one. I´ve been on holiday there 2 years ago.

The Santiburi Dusit Resort or the Le Royal Meridien ?

I´ve stayed at the Pavilion Resort

ho-pavillion130.jpg

It is cheaper than the upper ones, but luxury also.

If you are at Chaweng beach I wish you all the best  wink.gif

Party day and night and more transsexuals as you can count.

Make sure to get the scuba gear with you. Diving is big fun there. You also might want to visit a tailor. They do excellent clothes for very little money. If you need a good adress let me know.

Edit:

Almost forgot:

OFP and gaming is not taking up any time, al though I play around 4 hours every day, I get excellent grades every term, usually an average of mid-80's.

I have worked for Dusit previously on Phuket, but they are having serious problems now! In the upcoming year I will be working for an Amari Resort which is (dont get me wrong here) more in the hands of swiss, dutch and german managers.

The Le Meridien is always a great hotel (100% run by french) but a hotel that is too standardised to reflect the local culture. The hotel I will be working for is called Palm Reef Resort and it will upgrade from 104 to 188 rooms. It has about the same target market as Le Meridien and the Dusit. The Dusit loves to show its high rates on the internet but in reality their rooms are cheap! Never trust a rate published by the hotel itself, the rates are made by the Tour Operator!

But you did the smartest thing there is to do. Screw those 5star resorts. You can get anything you want in a 3star anyway. If you already know the region you go to then rent a bungallow and you spare even 50% more!

Tailors? Yeah, they got millions of them, but if this is your working dress then you will see how quickly they are ruined after drycleaning once per week. My german suits survived far longer than the thai ones! I allready did my diving license and I will do lots more trips when I am there. But what I like most is getting a real speedy motorcross cycle, I did that before and explored the entire jungle, SO GREAT!  xmas.gif

Hm depends on wich tailer you attend. Mine is in Chaweng and has major reputation. I still order my suits directly there as they are always good quality and fit to hips like no suit form the pole would do. Compared in price it is rather expensive for thailand, but the quality is really very good.

I get 3 suits a year from the tailor. I only need to call him tell him the measures and send him an E-mail on the lookj of the suit I want. He does a perfect job every time. Compared to the prices in germany when I want a tailored suit it is a laughter. For 3 suits I pay around 300 Euro and the quality is always great. If I want a tailored suit in germany the same style I pay around 1000 Euro for only one. So I prefer to have some variety , always uptodate design for much less money.

For sure I can´t tell what they would look like in every day use, but I am wearing suits a least twice a week, when it goes to night events and dining.

No problem about that. Thai´s tend to confuse very much things and have problems with "losing their face" very often wink.gif

The Dusit at Koh Samui is really wonderful. There is one room where you have a bath tub right at the veranda with an outstanding panorama. We were invited there for dinner once, but all the old sir´s and ladies were not my favour biggrin.gif

It´s more like a british gulf club for extreme old people than for 30´s like me.

Anyway have fun and dont forget to go to Kho Tau for diving. It´s great there.
