LowLevelFunctionary 0 Posted December 15, 2002 If you have ever been to the Dubai and even Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates then you will see what an amazing job the government has done. I have lived in Dubai city for the past four years and for a Muslim country it is amazing what has been achieved Christian, Islamic and Hindu celebrations are all very public. Of course big cathederals are not allowed, although if you look around you will see a cross hanging on buildings which for an Islamic country is quite amazing. There are even Christmas trees in public places such as shopping centres! There are British, American and Indian churches around the city. The Sheikh Ziyad road which is a very active road is surrounded by huge buildings, the tallest being 54 floors. My point is that you cannot tell the difference between being in a large American city or whether your in the middle east, of coruse however there are mosques just about everywhere It is a country that has not tried, but has succeeded in creating a place where multiculturalism has worked yet keeping their own identity.
