BaronVonRed 0 Posted December 3, 2002 I recently had to replace my main drive, which of course meant a complete re-install of OFP. In both Cold War and Resistance, I had to re-enter the CD keys but was unable to locate the manual for Cold War, which is where the CD key is located. To make a long story short, I basically ripped the house apart and was finally able to locate the manual. That it is so small of a manual did not help. It would be a nice thing if future releases put the "CD" key on or inside the "CD" case instead of in the easily lost tiny manual. Just a suggestion.... JRMZ 0 Posted December 3, 2002 Lots of games have their cd keys inside the manual these days.
bn880 5 Posted December 3, 2002 I don't know, I keep all my CD keys on my HD... and that's just if I'm too lazy to get the manuals out. Now if you lost your main drive, what do you expect, I would expect to be in serious trouble and looking for all my backups/manuals. You know, you can type the CD keys into you computer and save it. LOL And in your case you can get a marker and write it on the CD case, heck you can even write it on your socks or something.
OxPecker 0 Posted December 4, 2002 Like NB880 said, there are these great new inventions called marker pens! Or do what I do: whenever I install new software (games or otherwise) I keep a log (text file or spreadsheet) of all CD Keys, Serial numbers, registration details etc. etc. Found it to be very useful. Just make sure you back it up somewhere (like a floppy disc or CD) in case your HDD crashes.
shadow 6 Posted December 4, 2002 I have'nt made a backup of my cd-keys or anything. uhm is it okay that I only know where my complete ofp-collection is?
Major Fubar 0 Posted December 4, 2002 I usually find that method works for me too, Shadow! I get the distinct feeling most people who post here looking for CD Keys are using a warez version of OFP...

It takes in a blank bit of paper and then makes marks on it and gives the piece of paper back to me. Its called a prunter or something. I can then pin the piece of paper to the noticeboard above my computer so I can see all my CD Keys / Activation codes etc. But not my passwords

Placebo 29 Posted December 4, 2002 If you value something you take care of it, my manual is always inside the case and the cases are always sat on the chair to the left of my computer desk, they're about the only things in my flat I can put my hands on instantly, well except for the other thing I need to put my hand on when the hun is calling
Ixian 0 Posted December 4, 2002 They should put the CD keys on the cover of the cd itself and not the manual or the case. Â I too lost my manual once and had to get a new game. Â I think its a conspiracy. Â They knew stuff like this would happen so they put it in the manuals. So people would buy another one etc. Â Â Â j/k
