you don't have to drap and drop, all you need is the file called "mission.sqm" in the same directory as the exe file and you just doubleclick on the xex file and it will work.

hi rob,

there are 2 formats for the mission.sqm files. One for the files exported with the ingame-editor (all custom missions) and one for the files normally found in official missions. Depending on the format of your file you have to use different programs to decompress it.

besides my own tools (which i will publish next week) there are 2 tools available: cmiss-uncompiler (perl or executable, for official files) and unpack (perl and executable, for custom files).

Try to use both tools if you dont know what kind of file you want to decompress.

Why is there two different types of encryption used with missions?

I find the missions BiS releases are alot less choppy and run much smoother.

hey, rob, you remember when i got the info how to place flags on vehicles?

i used the decrypter. it started off with saying poo and that it was wrong, what u need to do is to get a mission.sqm file that works and which you made yourself and scroll all the way down to the bottom, and open the mission.sqm file of the decrypted mission.sqm (i use notepad as its fast and trouble free). now u compare, the decrypter doesnt put in the last few lines into the mission.sqm, something about how the mission ends, you just copy the end paragraph from the working mission into the decrypted mission, so the two have the same relative format. now it should work.

but as its a copy of the end conditions, the mission might not end in the way you want, but hey, you can see what everything is in the editor. plus the decrypter doesnt work for any other files except mission.sqm, so dont try decrypting the description.ext

hoz, i dunno if youre right, but maybe cos theyre better mappers and only put in the bare essentials into missions, and not 5 miles of sandbag fencing into a mission just in case the player might see it from a distance.

the latest missions 1.20+ i think, have been encrypted stronger, so they cant be decrypred, at least thats what i understood by it.
