A-lone-wolf and FlipeR, that's great news, guys. Now, can we land and walk around on a moving ship? I've experimented, before the news above, and althoug I can walk on a stationery boat, once it moves I fall off.

To Silent_Fox:

If appropriate vehicles classes are Ok with modified (or new) RoadWay, then new vehicles (3D-models) will have no problem...

Of course, I don't know details, but I think BIStudio programmers have choosen the best & simplest solution (as usually) to implement the 'bridges' into existing O*F engine...

To Rob:

I have got the SAME tools as other ModMakers (Breathe) & I'm not using any tools of any third party group (for example,  announced OFP_internals tools)...

For these simple tests NO special tools are necessary...

Picture(s) removed - obsolete...

Hi A-Lone-Wolf

I've been experimenting with the roadway lod and made, what I thought, was a simple ramp. When I try to drive on it the vehicle slows right down to a dead stop. What am I missing in the model? The lod? or is there something I'm missing in the Config file?

Thanks

Cheers 8)

BTW I've installed 1.55 beta, but it still shows as 1.46 on the OFP splash screen.

To Colonel_Klink:

Is your ramp simple ?

If you use this style of ramp: /-\

big slopes (angles) can stop vehicles...

Please, try any plain box (with minimal height) with no steps (angles) first...

For me 1.55 & 1.58 MP _test_beta shows correctly on main menu screen...

Are you sure, you are running really 'OFPMPTEST.EXE' ?

another thing i want to know! o2 doesn't have the power to do this new map editing business so whats going on?

and about the bridge, i didn't think of o2! what kind of a dumb ass person am i when im on the o2 forums?, you must of used the same lod as what the buildings use for the walls so things can't pass through it.

Modification of WRP file have been done with hexeditor...

To Rob: 'bridge' is normal 3D-object with RoadWay - of course, Geometries have to be defined too...

That was part of my problem. Still not sure if I'm doing this right though. My ramp is very shallow. i can walk on it, but vehicles just get damaged. I'm using a building class, I'm not sure if this is the correct one though. Your help would be appreciated.

it would be cool to see an in game bridge maker or something... let me make myself more clear.

I can't remember the mod but the mod that enables you to build your base etc, this idea would go well with it as its more of a strategy.

On sudden strike you get repair trucks and they can make bridges over little rivers. If we built a certain truck for the mod once they got to a river they could lay down this big bridge and make people wait for like 2 minutes before its completed.... I know this is going to take a lot of coding and scripting but it would be fun to see... smile.gif

To Rob:

Yes, I remember Sudden_Strike_demo - I have decoded some stuff there too (2 years ago) smile.gif

Interesting idea - maybe somebody important is listening wink.gif

To Colonel_Klink:

Drive slowly...

Is RoadWay at the same level as landscape/terrain or any STEP exist - which stops vehicles ?

while im here i just want to say that ive loved your work youve done for the community with all your lil programs... they have helped us a lot.... i wanna be a computer programer but i also enjoy skinning... i can't make my mind up lol but when i get to south cali i want to get into basic programming at a college near by.... i wanna learn c++, but the other reason why i want to do skinning is because i will have access to real weapons to take the photos. smile.gif i have met some cool people on the net over time that want to get into gaming when they're older but i didn't know we were moving so soon and now i can't meet them sad.gif

Anyway enough of my life story... tounge.gif

(Edit: btw why haven't you got an avatar? my one would go well with your name.... my real nick is SOT-wolf, which you may remember from the cz site as i used to post a lot of info there on the dkm mod before i left... my names Rob because these forums were the first i have ever been to and when it said name i put in my name lol and look what happened... im gutted that i can't change it:))

smile.gif Back to the good old Hex Editing, huh Wolf? tounge.gif

Colonel_Klink: Are you sure you're using 1.55/1.58 for your tests??? You have to run "OFPMPTEST.EXE" from OFPs root dir or create a new shortcut pointing to that file!!

Besides that, I hope your ramp has an inclination that doesnt exceede 40°-50°!!! Else I dunno if any vehicle could make it to the top:)

Thnx smile.gif

The most important thing - do, in what you are interested & it doesn't matter if it's programming or skinning - enjoy your work...

Avatar - now it's in (my old one)...

To FlipeR:

Yes, it's fast & good enough for initial tests... biggrin.gif

Hi FlipeR

I'm using 1.58 run from OFMPTest. The ramp is very shallow, probably less that 10 degrees. I ran it a mimonet ago. I can now drive on the ramp but the vehicle is damaged each time it drives over it. I'm not sure if I've set the Roadway lod correctly. Further experiments pending.

Thankx

Cheers 8)

Try making the 'surface' of the roadway LOD a tiny bit higher than the actual model, that seems to work for me
