Assault (CAN) 1 Posted November 6, 2002 Well, I wen't down to my local Electronics Boutique today and picked up a copy of Microsoft's CFS 3, expecting a great game and I learned a painful lesson: Do NOT by a game until you have read a few reviews about it first. CFS 3 starts in 1943, just when the Allied boming offensive was picking up, that's too bad because the B-17 and B-24 aren't even modeled in the game! No more desperate attacks on huge formations of B-17's in an Me-109. This game was meant to be a ground attack oriented sim, so maybe that's why they didn't bother with the heavy bombers and focused on highly detailed ground terrain. Too bad, because you need a high-end PC just to get the minimum performace out of the game. Another beef with me was the fact that you can't control the planes with the mouse like you could in CFS 2. Since I don't have a joystick, and I don't wan't to buy one for my only flight sim, that is definately a negative. Go toGamespot for a good review, they gave it a %70. I can't beleive I spent $80.05 (CDN) on this game. DON'T DO WHAT I DID! Don't buy this game. I wonder what EB's return policies are? Tyler
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted November 6, 2002 Thanks for the heads up bro- I need someone to scout out Microsoft titles because they dont always release demos
Assault (CAN) 1 Posted November 6, 2002 No prob. There isn't even a mission builder in this game, though MS is releasing an SDK for the game. EB's return policy says that I can exchange opened software for a game of equal or lesser value. The game was $69.99 (CDN) so maybe I'll go exchange it for IL2 at $67.99? habdoel 0 Posted November 6, 2002 but its hard to fly without a joystick.(still gotta get one of those sticks)
Col. Kurtz 0 Posted November 6, 2002 What a pity, I was lookign forward to it(hgasnt even come out here in Australia yet). Sure, it was a Micro$oft game, but it looked so cool I planned to ignore that part but its getting real negative press, so unless a really good patch comes out for it soon, dosnt look like Mr. Gates is getting my cash. I have IL-2 so I think I'll invest in Forgoten Battles. People are making American and British planes for IL-2 so soon the experiance will be complete. Tovarish 0 Posted November 6, 2002 Silly Assault, you should have gotten IL-2 The day I get tired of this baby is the day I get tired of OFP

Warin 0 Posted November 6, 2002 I was looking at CFS3, but in the end I decided to wait till I can track down a copy of IL-2. Beyond that, the sim I am really jonseing for hasnt even been properly announced yet. All that has been said is that Larry Holland and Totally Games are working on a new WWII flight sim for Lucasarts. And back in the dayt, BoB and SWotL were two of my favourite flight sims! Woooo! FSPilot 0 Posted November 6, 2002 I can't imagine using a flight sim without a joystick. I even had a set of rudder pedals and a yoke (complete with throttle stick ). They broke though =\

And no, I dont pirate software
cam0flage 0 Posted November 6, 2002 Has anyone tried those IL2 campaigns available in stores? I remember the other one was called Operation Barbarossa, that was a campaign for the Germans, of course. There's also one for the Russians, but I don't remember what's it called. IL2 was very nice, I was thinking of getting the OB addon. Also, about CFS3, is it possible to import earlier version aircrafts into the game? I'd like to fly with 50s and 60s jet aircraft. They are so crude but really cool to fly instead of high-tech F-18s

You'll have better graphics, dynamic campaign, redone AI, and the damage models will be much more in-depth.The engine of each plane by itself will have around 20 different hitzones!
