Joe98 92 Posted July 13, 2016 I wish to play Arma 3 tonight. I can't because there is an update. It will take 8 hours to download. What am I downloading? No, I have not yet ordered or paid for Apex. .
ineptaphid 6413 Posted July 13, 2016 Are you on stable branch? What size is the update? 8 hours does not mean much-depends on your internet speed
Joe98 92 Posted July 13, 2016 There is no way of telling. Arma3 is the only thing I have on Steam.
Joe98 92 Posted July 13, 2016 BIS implies 9.5 gig. Wow! Big update! After this I will wait some weeks before ordering or downloading Apex. It's probably a 32 hour download!
scottb613 285 Posted July 13, 2016 Hi Folks, Related question - I know there is a big update pending and my PC has a meager DSL line - I want to do the update on my terms instead of Steam - when I have enough time to do the download... Is there a way to prevent the update - leaving Arma useable - until I'm ready to download ? I went through the Steam options and I couldn't find anyway to do that... Thanks... Joe98 92 Posted July 13, 2016 Yes. Turn off your router. Then play Arma3 offline. This idea of allowing us to choose to download updates now or later has not yet seeped through to the powers that be.

scottb613 285 Posted July 13, 2016 Hi Joe, I'm no Steam expert - if I turn off my router - can I still authenticate on Steam ? I think that is required - no ? And thanks... Regards, Scott Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Regards, Scott Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk If you turn off your router, your internet connection will be disabled which will mean no browsing webpages. Which will also mean steam will not work, and will need switching to offline mode.
