from the available models i do recommend the following

Dell (same as mine - IPS panel) - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u3415w.htm- not really a high refresh rate twitch gaming monitor - 60Hz

Acer (IPS panel) - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_predator_x34.htm - gaming monitor - AMD Freesync 75Hz

Asus (IPS panel) - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_rog_swift_pg348q.htm - gaming monitor - nVidia G-sync 100Hz

Samsung (TN panel) - http://www.digitaltrends.com/monitor-reviews/samsung-s34e790c-review/ - multipurpose - 60Hz

The IPS glow on my Dell is pretty low to be honest, you can only see it when in pitch dark on a darkish image. I do miss the USB on the side of it like i have on my other 2 24' monitors though. Otherwise, as i said, one of the best purchases i made. everytime i move from it to my other 2x1080p setup i gag a bit

The maximum visual range for humans is

a. 135 vertically

b. 180 horizontally.

which translates into 1.3 aspect ratio btw.

Pufu,

How much better did the 1080 do for you? Currently, i have a 780 TI running a Dell 3415 and love it, but i'd like a little more eye candy.

Thanks

it did help a bit, i guess the 8gb vram helps out. i can run it on the same settings as i used on the older 1080p monitor with the same framerate it used to work on the 780ti. i own a 1070 not 1080 though

I am really struggling with the decision... I own a 1070 myself...how does it perform FPS wise on 4k compared to 1080p? You have to downscale it in some heavy missions / MP or you can always play on 4k and FPS still bottlenecked by CPU?

maybe  I get a 1440p with 144hz /gsync now and wait another year to upgrade to 4k? mmh

What's the rest of your system like?

Because unless you've got an insanely fast PC, you'll prolly never hit 1440p @ 144 fps, nor 4K @ 60 fps:

So personally, I'd go for a 1440p @ 60 Hz, because your GTX 1070 can't run fast enough to power either of the 2 above options.

i7 6700k @ 4,5-4,6ghz right now, gonna push to 5ghz with new cooling soon

2x8gb DDR4@2400MHz (not sure how far i can push it); 8gb GTX 1070@1835MHz(can push this alot higher, its a ZOTAC AMP Extreme 5 yr warranty), 512gb SSD

was thinking of getting another GTX 1070 for SLI....

I mean those 4k benchmark is with tons of AA, but from what ive seen in reviews they say AA is much less important if the game produces a good 4k image....there is also quite a few playin arma in 4k on youtube with even older GPU's and they hit 60 FPS in SP missions, so probably will hit 30+ in most MP (maybe not on a 120 player koth kiddie server)

well yeah, why get a 144hz monitor then? doesnt make alot sense for ARMA  right...well this pushes me more toward the 4k display imho...

OK since you're already got a very fast CPU, GPU & SSD, I'd replace DDR4-2400 with DDR4-3200, as this should deliver +10-15% in performance (A3 loves fast RAM):

http://techreport.com/review/31179/intel-core-i7-7700k-kaby-lake-cpu-reviewed/11

Of course you can buy faster DDR4 but prices quickly rise, returns diminish and you're fast approaching the maximum speed supported by most motherboards (never good).

Oh and I agree that you're better off going for a 4K but disabling the AA.

If you do make any of these upgrades, please let us know how it goes. If possible, benchmark before and after.

I own these: G.Skill RipJaws V DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-3200, CL16-18-18-38 (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB) but I am pretty new to OC. So ill have to dig in how to properly OC my system, specially the memory..

But well, ill do a bit more research, see if there are maybe some new monitors coming out soon, maybe its worth waiting a little....

i kinda think about getting me a Dell S2716DG 2560x1440 144hz Gsync http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/dell-s2716dg-monitor?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

and then sell it in a year or whenever i feel like upgrading to 4k. Guess we will see some more 4k 144hz gsync monitors....

Going full 4k would mean a new 1070, new power supply, more cooling, maybe even new case... and then 1200€ for the monitor i would like to have
