Grendelman 0 Posted October 31, 2002 When I start OFP, my screen goes to sleep (I dunno how to put this nicely). I can't get it to work while OFP is working. I know the game itself is working because I hear the music from the main menu. When go back to windows the screen goes back to normal... What is wrong with it? It works fine with other programs/games. It only happens with OFP. I have version 1.46... My system: Windows XP Pentium III 700 Mhz 320 SDRam 64 mb Geforce 2 MX 400 (I have the latest driver) 20 GB HD
suma 8 Posted October 31, 2002 This sounds like your monitor is not able to handle default screen resolution or refresh rate. You can try lower resolution or you can add line refresh=60; to your Flashpoint.cfg file.
Grendelman 0 Posted October 31, 2002 Hey, you're right. I changed the resolution, and now it works. Thanks mate! But, I find it a bit strange. I used to play OFP all the time with default resolution...
Grendelman 0 Posted October 31, 2002 One other thing. I changen it back to 1024x768x32, and did the refresh=60 thing. Now it also works. But now I have 2 cursors. The windows-cursor and the OFP-cursor. Do you know how to get rid of the windows-cursor in OFP?
shadow 6 Posted October 31, 2002 Have you tried ALT-TABing to windows and then back into the game? Sounds like a video-driver issue
Grendelman 0 Posted October 31, 2002 Hey cool, it works. The ALT+TAB thing. Thanks mate! Now I can finally play OFP in peace again.
Placebo 29 Posted October 31, 2002 Double cursor is an old problem, alt+tabbing can depending on driver version/gfx card/Opf version/lunar cycle/etc cause stability issues, changing something in graphics such as turning W-buffer off then on again (or vice versa) is another way of getting rid of the double cursor

bn880 5 Posted October 31, 2002 I suggest you try and find something better than 60Hz! You are not going to like the way your eyes/head feel after a couple hours at 60Hz. Attempt higher refresh rate one step at a time, if that fails drop your resolution and then try again. (Go into your windows display properties and see what your adapter is capable of, and try it, see if your monitor is also capable)
Mister Frag 0 Posted October 31, 2002 In addition to setting the highest refresh rate supported by your monitor/graphics card combination, you should download RivaTuner or a similar program to deal with a long-known problem with Windows 2000 and Windows XP -- these two operating systems revert back to 60 Hz when playing games. RivaTuner and other program allow you to force a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz in both Direct3D and OpenGL.
Placebo 29 Posted October 31, 2002 My personal preference for fixing the XP-60hz thingy is MultiRes simple lil 50kb app
bn880 5 Posted October 31, 2002 You should try Re-Force, seems to work with more cards. Less problems. ReForce
Placebo 29 Posted October 31, 2002 I like multires because it's only active when I want it to be, I used a tweaker for the Radeon and it messed up my TV-Out
Grendelman 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Woops, now I have a major problem. I used the Reforce thing. And I rebooting my computer like it told me to do. Now, when I get into windows, the screen goes to sleep, just like it did when I started OFP. So my windows is all messed up. I still can type this since I have Windows XP and Windows '98 on the same computer. I'm now in windows '98. How can I put the settings of my screen back? ----------------------------------------------------------- Oh, I already fixed. Ran it in safemode. I just play OFP in a lower resolution then. Thanks for the help anyway guys!
