Buldozer: Cannot load texture "data\layers\s_000_002_Ico.paa"

Yeah, all the layer files are there, both mask and satellite, in .png format - which is why I'm so perplexed as to why Buldozer can't find them

Nothing changes if I tick the .paa conversion when generating layers either

I'm pretty sure thats your issue.
So when you tick the checkbox convert to .paa no cmd windows opens with imgToPAA that converts the pngs -> paa?

I can vaguely remember someone else having the same problem but i'm not sure what fixed it.
Maybe a new install of the tools...

It does successfully convert all the .paa files, but I mean the error still happens, no matter if it's .pngs or .paas 

I'll try a fresh install I suppose, even though this pretty much is a fresh install

Just to get all the facts straight, what is:

 

The width and height of your heightmap in pixels

The horizontal scale of your heightmap

The width and height of your satellite map in pixels

The width and height of your mask image in pixels

 

On top of that, could you post a screenshot of your current Sampler's tab settings? A few settings are way off on the screenshots you posted earlier in this thread but since you've switched to other terrain data, we might as well go with those settings.

how did you set up your p drive?

Via Arma 3 Tools, I don't recall any super special way to do it other than doing it all via the options given in Arma 3 Tools, by first installing Buldozer and then extracting game data.

My P drive is linked to a folder called Arma 3 Projects in My Documents folder on the same drive that Arma 3 and Arma 3 Tools are installed on.

 

 

Just to get all the facts straight, what is:

 

The width and height of your heightmap in pixels

The horizontal scale of your heightmap

The width and height of your satellite map in pixels

The width and height of your mask image in pixels

 

On top of that, could you post a screenshot of your current Sampler's tab settings? A few settings are way off on the screenshots you posted earlier in this thread but since you've switched to other terrain data, we might as well go with those settings.

 

These are my settings for trying a completely new terrain, 100% identical to the Atlas guide instructions

My heightmap is 2048x2048 pixels, my satellite map is 2048x2048 pixels, my mask map is 2048x2048 pixels

Wow, well that's embarassing (although I didn't know any better  :o )

The single thing I was missing the whole time, was an editor.sqs file in my P:/scripts folder. I was putting the editor.sqs file straight into my terrain's folder instead, the Atlas never told me where to put that as far as I'm concerned.

 

lappihuan I used your improved editor.sqs, that I found while browsing other Terrain builder threads in here  :)  No more missing textures and I can see my gloriously low res satmap over my terrain, and my mask works fine - so I'm happy!

 

 

On an unrelated note, I was looking into creating a heightmap via L3DT, is there any way to overlay the satellite map texture ontop of a new blank heightmap in that program?

Nice that you got it working. But page 5 of the Atlas tells you where to put it:

 

Move the files that came with this tutorial to their appropriate location.

i. Move the files from the “textures†folder into “P:\yourtag\yourproject\dataâ€.

ii. Move the files from the “source†folder into “P:\yourtag\yourproject\sourceâ€.

iii. Move the files from the “configs†folder into “P:\yourtag\yourprojectâ€.

iv. Move the file “editor.sqs†from the “scripts†folder into “P:\scriptsâ€.

v. Leave everything else where it is for now.

File>import>new map layer. Choose RGB after picking your file you want to use. Once your in 3D mode choose options>terrain>select texture

Oh, well that script does not affect anything related to your issue :D

I bet there was some pdrive fuckery as i don't know the new pdrive setup BI provides.

try again

 

edit: also try resolution m/px = 10

and texture layer 40X40 (if you have problems with grids ingame)

try again

 

edit: also try resolution m/px = 10

and texture layer 40X40 (if you have problems with grids ingame)

10 m/px is quite low...

1 m/px is pretty much standard

I've never had to do that, why would loading it in Object Builder make it work ???

Thank you! I'll be trying that out soonish. L3DT seems like an invaluable tool for heightmaps from what I've seen

I do enjoy it :P The whole roads thing helps either way as I'm starting to lay those out soon.

Nah it wasn't a layer size issue. Was just missing an editor.sqs file in the right place. I'm now working on a full size 20480x20480 satmap and mask in full HD glory :)

Already solved it, but thanks for the tip, didn't have to do any of that convoluted stuff though. Was pretty easy to set up aslong as you go through the Arma 3 Tools way of setup
