P Drive not working?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Didn't know where to put this so i guess here is the best place but with the recent update on arma 3 and a3 tools today, i have came to a problem where when i mount my p drive the contents of the drive are not there? How can i revert back to a old version to get them back or how can i get them to show. They are in my Arma 3 Tools folder but when i mount they are not there. Any help would be amazing :)

Thanks

UPDATE: Fixed problem via following guide on this forum thread  :)

Sounds to me like the update changed the source folder for the P drive (i.e. the folder it 'mounts' as the P drive). Check your settings (Run ArmA3 tools then along the top select 'Preferences > Options' or press the keyboard shortcut CTRL+E).

Un-check 'Use Default' at the end, and then navigate to the folder you want to use.

It shouldn't just read "P:\"

The path that goes into that box is the SOURCE FOLDER, i.e. the folder where all the shit you want to work on is. All the P drive is, is a drive that links directly to a folder on your system. THAT is the path you need to put into that box

(excuse the piss-poor cropping of the image, but you get the point)

It appears that previously by default it used to use your Arma Tools directory to create the P:\. Now you can't point the path to that folder as you are prompted with an error.

Thankfully. I've never understood why anyone would put all their project files in there in the first place

Probably because it was the default location and a lot of people keep it that way, believing that the default location is the safest.

You're probably right. I'm just stuck in my 'old habits' from the "pre-P:\ drive era" of having everything in a folder called Buldozer :P

God help us all

Ever since my P: drive disappeared after restarting my PC I just used a .cmd file with these commands:

subst p: /d
subst p: c:\wherever\i\want\my\p\drive

It is as designed in order to prevent any loss of data due to the tools updates (and fix other issues). Everything is covered by the last TECHREP and the this topic. Regarding the preparation of the drive, hoverguy wrote a nice tutorial which explains a way to get it prepared and ready.

Which is the very reason why the default directory has been moved.

The issue here is in that the P drive will exist for either, the administrator account (or elevated process), or "the users". This can work without major issue provided everything is run with the same privileges.

That is true, I've disabled UAC a long long time ago and my account is the only one on this machine so I forgot how annoying it can be for people with standard accounts.
