CamperKiller 0 Posted October 27, 2002 VIT has released his F117. Textures and model need a fair bit of work though.
B@ZOOkA 0 Posted October 27, 2002 its just like everything VIT made yet... its not bad but all needs a lot of work... id like to see vit first finishing his addons and then releasing
spencer 0 Posted October 27, 2002 That's not all either, for me at least... When I got it I thought "I'll have a look a it from the outside first.." So I did, I put myself as a pilot, then the plane as empty. The problem came when I tried to get into it.. I couldnt!! So I go back to the editor and made me the player. Now the problem is that, I was doing about 400mph at the malden air base trying to take off, even at that speed did it?.... NO. So back to the editor, to make it flying, at last i get to try it out, it's doing about 1000mph I'm off the island before I can blink an eye, and the handling is pants =(
cam0flage 0 Posted October 27, 2002 I think F117 isn't after all suitable for OFP. Both planes which were released today (VIT's and King Homer's) have a lot of bugs, especially King Homer's where the cockpit is completely screwed up. How about bringing more versatile ground vehicles instead of all these high-tech planes which we don't really need? The more units the merrier but still some quality control from the addon makers would be nice. Well, nobody is forced to download and use them but still it would be nice to see the addon makers direct their creativity towards more useful addons
TaNK_Em 0 Posted October 27, 2002 Hmm Vits is cool and all but could use alot of work the textures manly its gos over 900 so I had to really slow it down to get a hit on a target. King homers is good to but the textures again and the AI using bombs are less accurate then vits cam0flage i agree with you partly the F117 gos pretty fast its not the best. Again the island size probulm comes in some are big enough for it. But we need more high tech planes! more more more!
RaptorAce 0 Posted October 27, 2002 Yeah, i agree, more high tech planes, where's my F-22?lol I downloaded Vit's, boy, that thing needs some work, the 117's dont use the colored USAF logo on the wings, it should be dark grey, barely visible and i think it'd look a hell of a lot better if someone could find a way to open the bomb bay doors. BTW... how the hell do u get inside?
Badgerboy 0 Posted October 28, 2002 RaptorAce. Have you checked out Falcon 4.0 Superpak 3 yet? Believe me, it'll be far more fun than flying OFP. You can fly from F16's to B2's. (My personal preference is the Tornado. If you need to get somewhere in a hurry on the deck, open up the burners, and nothing can catch you! Nothing like flying at 25ft at 500kts)
EndarkenD 0 Posted October 29, 2002 Sweet plan, actually the f117 top speed is 500 clicks; it’s not fast at all. The pilots call its outer coating black magic as nothing can lock onto it so slow the plane down and try making it quiet and undetectable you got yourself a top add-on for taking out schilkas which is what there used for in real life, I think you should add some high tech aa systems as well, Russia use tungsten’s, like shilkas but with 4 aa missiles on the side and the Americans have some sort of weird truck with 8 missiles I believe. Hmm well just got me thinking that OPF doesn’t have counter measures for missiles and no lock on warnings Well in 1985 I believe the f117 was just a prototype at area 51, if you look it up they were the aircraft rumored to be making secretly which makes me think what are they working on now?? Badgerboy 0 Posted October 29, 2002 The F117 was the 'Have Blue' program in 1985. The prototype looked quite different to the final article. As for the speed of the F117, it's not that fast as it's a terrible aerodynamic design. the name 'Stealth Fighter' is a complete joke. If you get into A/A combat in one of those, your as good as dead. The B2 for example has less RAM material in it, but is more stealthy. thanks to better design techniques. StimpyK 0 Posted October 29, 2002 I've always liked Vit's stuff. this F117A Addon is no exception.. But... I do think it flys a bit to low when it drops it's bombs (maybe add a bigger explosion?) also.. since it is a stealth plane, how about making it undetectable to Shilkas? (but still make Infantry AA notice it) just my 2 cents. PS. is there anyway of having the Laser Designator work in co op with the F117a? BTW.. the SAS addon rocks. How about making some SAS units in boonie caps? I find it odd how the only thing that indentifies Brits from US troops in OFP is that SA80 rifle. (which sucks)

EndarkenD 0 Posted October 29, 2002 The f117 at close rang and nme aircraft; I have an article from the gulf war pilots done in an aviation magazine saying they where just fine around enemy aircraft I think?? The fact they cant get locked onto if they have there aerials down means they only way to shoot them down is with the machine gun which takes a bit of skill and at night there hard to see and no radar to show you where they are.... I find it amazing how infantry with no night vision spot you running along at night when you’re in black and total darkness; I guess its just super ai. sseagle 0 Posted October 30, 2002 The name "Stealth Fighter" is sort of a misnomer, but it does, in fact, have a provision to mount two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles on extendable trapezes from the bomb bays as a Counter-AWACS platform. Strange, yes, true, yes.

I find it amazing how infantry with no night vision spot you running along at night when you’re in black and total darkness; I guess its just super ai.<span id='postcolor'> Well apparently the Yugoslavians figured out how to shoot them down. From what I understand if radar crews are properly trained to identify the F117 and if the equipment is set up to detect very small objects moving at high rates of speed, that it can be detected. I believe also the IR signature, while muted, is still a weak area that may be detectable with IR seeking missiles and IR fire control systems such as those used on the Mig-29 and Su-27 figher aircraft. The IR targetting system on the Mig29 and Su27 is used as a passive means of detecting enemy aircraft so that they are not detected by radar warning receivers on enemy aircraft. At any rate the F117 is not invincible. There have been several articles in various defense journals about this. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
JdB 151 Posted October 31, 2002 The max speed on Vit's F117 is 1500 km/h (about 1000 miles an hour). That's about two times to faster then in real life.
