Diary? What does it do, is it any good and how can we use it?

I've read through the biki  and was hoping to see a page entitled Diary that would give a nice overview of it but alas no. The individual pages that diary uses don't give many clues as to what its for.

 

What is it, what can it do, what can't it do and is it rubbish? :)

You use it for non-task briefing stuff like "Situation", "Background","Credits","Tips", etc.

Don't know how useful it is though, it seems to be a local command.  Seems to be a JIP nightmare

I am already using bi tasks for primary missions. I wondered if the diary would be good for secondary missions. It looks like I'll be making a custom mission status dialog or reworking my use of the 3d tasks to include the sm s too.

I usually juse the diary for all intel, support aviable, know information about hvt's, credits ect. That is what its usually used for. also It can be used to refer to markers on the map making it scrol to that position or for pictures.

That nicely shows what's possible and makes me think it's worth persevering with the locality problems to get it working. Thank you.
