Copy/Paste not working between terrains?

Recommended Posts

So, I have a complete Forward Operations Base built on my Altis terrain and I am trying to copy and paste it into my Zargabad terrain so I can make a few missions on the Zargabad terrain.  However, when I select the FOB and select COPY, then open Zargabad and select PASTE, nothing happens.  When I have Altis open, the PASTE function works just fine and plops the FOB down wherever I want it.

FYI- the FOB is built entirely out of vanilla Arma 3 objects; no add-ons.

Anyone having similar issues?  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi,

do you happen to exit the 3D editor to main menu between each terrain or do you just open New Scenario (Ctrl+N) in the same editor session? Copy-pasting is designed to work only within single editor session.

Does the issue occur also when copying things between vanilla terrains (e.g. Altis -> Stratis) or are community terrain addons required to reproduce this issue?

For me the copy and paste works fine..its the elevation of the objects that differs so much between terrains..if you build a base on Altis..then copy and pate it to another Map..all of the Objects are at a different elevation, same with triggers and players etc so you need to manually go through each object and using the elevation tool snap them to ground level. Especially with players that spawn in..elevation seems to kill the players when they spawn in. I ran into this issue when porting an Insurgency mission to Bozcaada all the Enemy Commanders died when they spawned in because of the elevation of the trigger. Just something to watch for when you do copy and paste things.

Hi,

thanks for feedback.

Copying sync should be fixed in next patch. Or you could try Dev branch in Betas.

Copying elevation of objects will be investigated.

You can paste in original position, see if that works for you.

Right click>Edit>paste in original position

What works well for me is when ever I have a 'composition' of things that I'd like to reuse in another terrain/mission I just select all of the items that I want to be part of the composition and then right click and save a custom composition. This works for groups of units, groups of objects, and groups of modules/triggers/markers etc. That way those custom compositions are always available to me when I load a new terrain to start a new mission.

I've been searching for this replacement for "MERGE" for some time... why is it not listed under EDIT at the top tool bar ?

Seems really odd to have missed that ?

Anyway got it working at least
