DancZer 65 Posted January 24, 2016 Optimized and advanced, funny you'd say that :D : http://a.disquscdn.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/3066/6520/original.jpg Batman (nvidia game), R280x (which is basically an 7970 with some OC), is equal to 780/TI and ahead of the Titan (which was ~= R290 when the later launched) and around $1k (titan price). http://a.disquscdn.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/3066/6522/original.jpg Also have a look how further ahead is the 7970 compared to GTX680 although at launch were more or less equal (even a 7870 can get pretty close to it). ;) http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GTX_980_Ti_Waterforce/23.html R290 (nov. 2013 card) = gtx970 (Sep 2014 card) @1440p. Basically 1 year old card from AMD = nvidia. And if the rumors regarding asynchronous compute come true, you'll have another jump from AMD. AMD problems are in regards with how much the devs are actually bothering optimizing their games for them, more so on nvidia games. What nvidia does is strip the hardware to the bare minimum you need for now, that's why you get some extra performance at some point or lower temperatures. It doesn't gets old in a spectacular fashion however. GTX 970 with power draw rated at 148 W maximum R290 with power draw rated at 275 W maximum
CaptainAzimuth 714 Posted April 3, 2016 Better WaveWorks footage, now that War Thunder's April Fools event actually involved the first iteration of testing for their future.
Blafirelli 24 Posted April 7, 2016 Better WaveWorks footage, now that War Thunder's April Fools event actually involved the first iteration of testing for their future. It's a shame War Thunder doesn't have foam simulation implemented yet.
aus_twisted 0 Posted April 9, 2016 That and the usual visual glitch that many games have where you can see clearly underwater when you're right in the level with water and air. Two actually bad visual problems with the water/ocean in Arma but I don't believe Waveworks is needed to fix those. This visual issue seeing into the water like it's not there on the surface is now fixed with the visual upgrade on the latest Dev version :)
I give up 152 Posted April 9, 2016 Nvidia, if you are an ARMA 3 player. All the rest are fairy tales. In fact, you have convinced me with latest dev branch, Moving to Nvidia.
Freghar 73 Posted April 10, 2016 (Since this thread is still active, I'll at least reference one of the controversies surrounding GameWorks in general. I know Arma 3 is already using some features and I don't have a good reason for/against, .. just please be very mindful of the political implications and hidden agendas the "helpful" support from NVidia has. There are many ways, most of them considered "unethical" and "manipulative" which could be in effect and if NVidia marketing is clever enough, these are in effect. I would hate to see Arma 3 being primarily an NVidia game, with AMD "just on the side".) dmarkwick 261 Posted April 13, 2016 Anyone here seen the new VBS sea state tech?
CaptainAzimuth 714 Posted April 13, 2016 Long ago, and while it does look similar to Waveworks, we cannot confirm it's related.
dmarkwick 261 Posted April 13, 2016 It's not related, it's VBS proprietary tech.

I personally prefer NVidia, however i do believe it's completely unfair to neglect others who use a different brand in order to force them into switching or not being able to run the features, or even the game itself.
