When he went mad, and was telling the shrink how they were on the bus and there was a chicken on a woman's knee which kept clucking, there were North Koreans all about so they had to keep totally quiet but this chicken wouldn't stop clucking, the woman put her hands over the chicken to stop it clucking, it stopped clucking and it stopped living, it wasn't a chicken  That's why I loved MASH so much, it wasn't just a dumb comedy, it was also a very deep, dark drama at times, wonderful show, doubt we'll ever see anything like it again  <span id='postcolor'> That was the final episode. It was a five part episode Great one. Hawkeye was definatly my favorite character. Klinger was great too.

Placebo 29 Posted September 21, 2002 Every TV exec should be forced to sit and watch the series as an example of quality television, then perhaps we wouldn't have so much of the bollocks that we currently have, that or we wait for Aaron Spelling to die

As placebo said, it was a comedy, but at the same time the episodes can be dark and very dramatic. I still remember being like 10 when I saw the episode where Henry Blake gets to go home... he leaves and everyone is happy... and then during a marathon surgery session, the camp PA comes on and announces that Henry's plane was shot down on its way to Japan. Very sad... The series was based on a movie of the same name in the early 70's... only two actors (Alan Alda (Hawkeye Pierce) and Gary Burghoff(Radar O'Reilly)) crossed over from the movie to the TV series. The movie is one of the all time great 'war' movies, and I reccomend it to anyone who wants to laught thier asses off.

Placebo 29 Posted September 21, 2002 Most likely the only one who knew was Radar as he was the only one who had lines about the plane going down. Talking about it makes me realise how much I miss the show, I could download episodes of course but that would be wrong, both legally of course and a show like that deserves to be watched on tv or video or dvd

Jester983 0 Posted September 22, 2002 They sell it on DVD? Where? How much? I would definately buy it. I have so far about 6 hours of MASH. Someone plz tell me who trapper was? Im really confused. Oh and my favorite person is Hawk eye. We should start a petition to bring it back. Maybe we could convince the networks to stop showing such crappy shows like american idol, survivor, Who wants to be a millionare and show MASH instead. Othin 0 Posted September 22, 2002 It's kind of sad, I remember my parents and older brother watching it all the time when I was very young. I was never into it at that point. Now that I'm older and want to watch it, it's not on the T.V. of course! I do remember, however, my best friend had a whole bunch of M*A*S*H* toys. They were basically G.I. Joe sized (the smaller 80's 3 3/4" GI Joes, not the older large size). He also had a huge M*A*S*H compound (this thing was huge, it had a hospital tent, mess hall, a HQ bldg, and one of those plastic mats you would put underneth) and an awesome closed back hospital jeep that we would rumble over! Jester983 0 Posted September 22, 2002 Gosh you guys were right. That last episode is really sad. When BJ rode his motorcycle down the hill i thought he was going to eat it or something cause he could barely keep it from tipping.
