I am not defending Saddam but his people are relatively well of. He shows more responsibility than Nigerian, Ethopian, zimbawese or congolese leaders. Most of the arguments that the US use are seeking-arguments, which means that you already know the answer and try to find supportive arguments. But this is not the way to approach an issue objectively! Subbjectively I just think Bush is pissed off and end the work of his farther.

Of course you cant read german but with a little effort you gonna understand the figures. Of course Iraq has a relatively high rate of children dying but that is due to the imposed sanctions (also one of the great ideas)

Saddam Hussein was born 28 April 1937, which would make him 65 years old

Making a nuke is trivial as long as you have the fissile material needed. A nuke works basically that you join two parts of fissile material so that they togeather reach the critical mass. The basic design for that is that you have two half-spheres of enriched uran 237. They are surrounded by TNT and have a nuclear moderator in the middle (water). When the TNT is detonated the half spheres are joined and you get a chain reaction.

So why don't more countries have nukes? Because you can't just buy enriched weapons grade U-237 in your local drug store!. Enriching uranium and clearing it of impurities is a very complex process that only a few countries in the world knows how to do and has access to the amounts of needed fissile material. Saddam may have as much ambition as he wishes to make nukes, but he can't get the material.

For those of you who dont think Iraq and Al Queida are linked in any way, I would suggest that you read the book {Bin Laden The man who declared war on America} by Yossef Bodansky. This book was written from the opposing side of the United states and the United nations. I wont get into to the book to much, but there is a least 100 pages in the book that links them together. From money changing hands to saddams sons themselves planning attacks with Al Queida. read it for yourself. There is a lot of info out there.

Only by learning about our adversaries and educating our citizens can America remain safe and protect its freedoms.

Plutonium 239, you are correct with that one.

But you are definitely wrong with Uranium 238, U-238 is not fissible. I don't know about 237 though.

My diagnosis is, we're dealing with the old class-superceding Cain/Abel syndrome.

It starts out with a benign envy.

You know: you got a little more power, more territory, more glory, progressive ideas, better business, more money, lower taxes, better women, ..., maybe did something for me sometime, ...

Makes me feel just a little inferior on a subconscious level. Don't like it.

That low level resentment over time develops into full fledged green jealousy, until sooner or later, sometimes after years of brooding, the hatred is so intense that something must be done.

So they cuss out American posters, tourists, etc. At least in Europe they're not shooting (yet).

(Remember Pearl in Pakistan?)

If you'd analyze (beyond mere observation) you'll probably find that most of the really intense W-haters are from smaller, perhaps once great, countries.

People from regional powers (bigger places) tend to argue a little more soberly. Guess they subconsciously understand responsibility better. In real life their opinion counts more.

Also: I found that the general feeling of the (non-islamic) Third World is tremendously sympathetic towards the US after 911, nothing like Europe. It was for instance awesome to see how the people of India reacted to the terror attacks. Been there when it happened.

But Europe?

They'll be busy constructing their reincarnation of the old Soviet Union, (European Union), until they feel they're once again on par with the US.

With their present ideas and mindsets however they never will be.

Back to topic:

The West, (yes, they will join the US in the end), will topple Saddam and a former Iraqi general, probably Najib al-Salhi or perhaps Fawzi al-Shamari, will take power. Both men live in Washington.

The war will be short.
