GDent 10 Posted October 11, 2014 I'm trying to use the VA to edit a unit, but I can't really change what's in its backpack, vest, or shirt. It always looks full and I can't choose exactly what I want, just ammo or certain miscellaneous items. Does anyone know a way around this? I'd really love to switch from LEA to VA but it seems impossible thanks to these stupid limitations.
iceman77 19 Posted October 11, 2014 Looks like you're better of with VAS =)
GDent 10 Posted October 12, 2014 No. I want to edit a unit's inventory for a premade mission, I don't want them to access VAS while the mission is running.
KevsNoTrev 44 Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) there are scripted commands you can use to access VA within a mission and without having to have access to the aresenal. bis_fnc_loadInventory and bis_fnc_saveInventory - they can access missionNameSpace or profileNameSpace. I am testing currently the profilenamespace on the server side to see if it can be used to store info, instead of having to have a db system. I have been using these successfully for weeks within a mission so upon respawn you come back with the last loadout you had before death. apparently way off base with this response. Edited October 12, 2014 by KevsnoTrev I should try reading occasionally!!!
GDent 10 Posted October 12, 2014 I apologize, but I don't understand how that helps me create a mission with predefined loadouts for my units. I'll explain clearly just to make sure we are on the same page. I want to use Virtual Arsenal to load units with certain items, like guns, ammo, and uniforms, so that they will start the mission already carrying those items. I do not want players to access VAS or VA while playing the mission. I do not want them to ever respawn. When the mission starts, they should simply have the items I gave them with VA. The problem with Virtual Arsenal is that it seems impossible to edit backpacks and carriers fully. They are clearly full of items, but I cannot remove those items within VA. I was wondering if anybody knew a way around this.
jshock 513 Posted October 12, 2014 Why use VA then? Why not just a standard gear script?
GDent 10 Posted October 12, 2014 Because VA provides a visual way to edit unit loadouts. I can see exactly what the unit is going to look like and all the gear is organized in a nice way. It even provides an export function, but it's all useless unless I can get around the issue with gear already being present inside the carriers, shirts, and backpacks. KevsNoTrev 44 Posted October 12, 2014 I think the limitation here is the ammo bearer for example spawns in with ammo for other classes. but VA won't allow ammo for a class other than the weapons currently on the unit, and you can't see the other ammo classes. I believe (from Feedback Tracker) it will be fixed but we may have to wait for 1.32 (final) before it is in stable branch.
GDent 10 Posted October 12, 2014 That's certainly one of the issues. Honestly, if I could just be playing and have a "copy loadout to clipboard for export" button then I'd be happy. I could then just combine VA with the VA Anywhere mod and then pick up any other missing items in the editor, export to clipboard, and create my units that way. Can you post the feedback page? I looked at the tracker a while ago and didn't find any replies to these issues.
