I kind of want to start my own scripting team

Recommended Posts

I've been playing around with this stuff for the past few weeks, actually gotten pretty good at it. I just kind of...answer questions on the forum like a robot now. I'm wondering if anybody would like to join me, ideally I'm only looking for 1-2 other people. I do have a teamspeak server and you would be required to join it often, if not daily. Initially we could just work on our own projects, occasionally helping each other out, but shortly I'd like to start on a nice, big project.

Please (at least) know how to script a little.

English is the only language I know, please speak english... please

PM me or respond to this thread if you're interested, we start tomorrow.

As fas as I'm concerned, we're all one big scripting team here. :D

Anyway, it might help to know what you're planning to achieve.

Yes, I think, substantial goal first. "Let's script anything cool" isn't very promising approach. Is needed attractor, binder and motivator or it will end as emphemera. Also, at least some scripters are lone wolfs by nature. Hard to coordinate work for bunch of individualists. If however you'll form well tuned team of capable, dedicated scripters, you'll be able to achieve great stuff, out of reach for single person. So good luck.

I agree with this, that's part of the reason I'll sit at my computer all day responding to posts. The other part is because I love seeing what somebody can do, when you give them a hint here and a code there.

As for my big superproject, I'm not really sure what I'd like to accomplish. At the moment, I'm working on a server-side dynamic loot system just to see if I can do it.

I guess we're on the same page there. ;)

Feel free to add me on steam.

I may not necessarily be interested in spending time in a scripting-team on a regular basis (time is a somewhat rare thing to have) but I'm always happy to exchange thoughts/ideas with other ArmA script-fanatics.

Personally I like helping other people troubleshoot their problems because it helps me learn too. I like finding solutions to problems I never had before, I also like when people do the same for me. It really helps future users when they search the forums too. Dont just think you're a robot, Arma would be nothing without people like you. Arma is a platform and I'm pretty sure BIS has admitted that.

Totally agree, so same goes for me. If I wasn't already busy in two other project groups (besides rL activities), I'd say "Here!". But at some point, I have to make sacrifices even if I don't want to.

@Dread - Steam name sent via PM if interested.

But as Tajin already stated, time has become sort of a rare thing so my rL has top priority when it comes to regularity. Everything else ... we'll see.

The best way to get private sessions going is just to add as many known editors, coders, scripters, modelers etc etc to steam. From my many experiences in the series, 9/10 small talk turns out to be >> guy1: "we should do x or y!!!" guy2: " Totally!! Do you have dropBox?!"

Yeh, that sounds about right.

So why not simply start a steam-group for that?

Lets give it a try:
