A-10 Gun Runs bring performance to a grinding halt.

Recommended Posts

If I witness even a single burst from the A-10 (or the A-100 or whatever the future A-10 vanilla aircraft is) hit the ground, my performance is obliterated. This didn't used to be an issue. I am running Blastcore but I didn't have this problem until recent patches and I've been using Blastcore since it's release with no problem.

Specs are as follows:

i7 3770k

16GB Corsair Platinum 1800 DDR3

GTX 680

Windows 8.1 64bit

I should be able to handle the particles just fine. I've even turned particles down to low and it still occurs.

And without Blastcore?

Without any mods at all it takes about 2-3 bursts. Without it and at low settings it takes quite a few. But it's not a gradual framerate drop. It goes from pretty much steady to just halting and hitching and the FPS drops to single digits.

HRM... I just noticed that Blastcore isn't in my ArmA 3 directory or showing up in game. So I guess it was never a part of the problem. Not sure what happened to it though o.o haha

Installed Blastcore and a full addon load (JSRS, AGM, bunch of others) and it seems like blastcore is exactly the same. It's a bit weird. I noticed that sometimes getting closer to existing particles after impact would cause issues, sometimes it would happen just as the lifespan of particles ended, it was all over the place.

I've tried overloading the game with particles with the AH-9 and there weren't any problems. In fact I'm noticing they seem to have optimized the minigun's impacts because where as they used to bring the framerate down noticably (not below playable generally, but it was certainly felt) but they no longer significantly drain performance. Even with my full rocket payload expended as quickly as possible followed immediately by continued minigun fire into a surface that provides impact particles, I still have no real performance issues.

I've experienced this as well. At first I thought it was JSRS but then I tried without it and the same happened, dropped to 1-3 FPS. Sound starts crackling.

This didn't happen before 1.24.

I have A-10s and Blackfoots circling a town, not sure which (or both) crafts that cause it.

Turn your sound quality down in your sound settings. Control panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound>Speakers (Or whatever you are using)>Advanced>Adjust sound quality to something lower (what i have is 24bit 44100Hz).

If THAT doesn't work for you try going into your sound card settings (for me its Dell Audio) and adjusting the settings

Just curious, what map/maps does this happen on for you guys?

Did tweaking audio settings work like Jones mentioned?

I didn't do a lot of testing but it seemed to get fixed by lowering sound cards settings to 24bit 48k Hz.
