1para{god-father} 105 Posted June 3, 2014 Anyone know what Roads Tab does ? Define road crossing etc.. or is that redundant ?
frankltcol 10 Posted June 5, 2014 Hi Para, i made some testing but gave up. Maybe we could try together testing that feature. If interested contact me via pm. Bye, Frank
m1lkm8n 411 Posted June 6, 2014 If you remember v3 it was for that style of road placement when each road segment was a p3d object. Now the roads are done using shape files so it's not really used unless your using terrain builder for a a2 project
Chairborne 2594 Posted June 15, 2014 You can still use A2 style roads in A3, the process is exactly the same as it was in V3 except for some minor tweaks.

schultzit 65 Posted June 15, 2014 Question is. Why would u want to use old tech when the new tech is so much better. :p In my case, the map I'm porting over uses roads with lanes, arrows on lanes and stuff. Doing it with the new tech would be crazy, I think..
m1lkm8n 411 Posted June 15, 2014 Nope. Not hard at all. Grab the texture from the sample models. Link via the roadslibconfig and boom. Old style textured roads with new a3 tech. Ian banks even has a program that will convert your old roadnets to an a3 shape file. Maybe if u ask nicely he will convert them for you :)
Chairborne 2594 Posted June 16, 2014 Question is. Why would u want to use old tech when the new tech is so much better. :p Well for once i find it more precise than hand drawing. Making straight and curve lines is very simple and what you see is exactly what you get in game. However i'm using it only because i'm making a racetrack and i find it easier this way, for "normal" roads the new system with shapes is good as well. ---------- Post added at 09:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:24 AM ---------- elaborate please! The method is exactly the same you used to use in Visitor 3. Open terrain builder, locate your "Window" tab on the top of your screen Open the "Road types" tab Create a new road set through the button with a small triangle on top The rest is pretty much the same as it was in Visitor 3 You still need P3D road models, you can take them from the A2 Sample Files or from the unpacked content of Arma 2. There really is no difference if you know how it works in V3.
