Postduifje 0 Posted July 14, 2002 Did you read this: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The box and advertising for Resistance play up improvements in the graphics. The differences are subtle at most. You might notice some increased details on the characters (Colonel Guba's stubble seems to be bump mapped) and the ground textures seem to be a bit more varied and realistic. However, it's the same engine (this is an expansion after all) and the game doesn't really look any better overall. If they hadn't mentioned the graphic enhancements I probably wouldn't have noticed them.<span id='postcolor'> I must be hallucinating, because those grahic enhauncements are here allright! How the heck can someone overlook them?

Guest Posted July 14, 2002 Here is a direct link to the review. At least Oprah got a 95% score Obviously the reviewer, while liking OFP didn't know too much what he was talking about: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The sound effects are the same as OFP of course but that isn't a bad thing as they were pretty darn good to begin with.<span id='postcolor'> </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The press releases for Resistance promise better network coding. I wasn't able to verify this for two reasons. My current connection is only 56K and OFP doesn't run well for me. The other reason is that I couldn't find any servers running the new Nogova maps.<span id='postcolor'>

I definitely disagree with this (although someone will no doubt endeavor to prove me wrong). The visual range of some missions seemed much shorter to me.<span id='postcolor'> Hmm.. It makes the terrain more contoured and bumpier. This allows you to find cover just about anywhere. I don't think it would affect the overall gameplay because the enemy will have the same advantage. It does make the game more realisitic and pretty though. There is a significant performance hit when you turn this level of detail on though so you may have to play with it to get a good balance depending on your machine. <span id='postcolor'>

Its just the review made a big thing of the sheer boredom of waiting around for the bus. I also hate it when people like the bloke who wrote the review go on about how the 3d engine looks out of date and should be more like Ghost Recon. Ok, so a lot of other engines look better, but not drawing the amount of expansive scenery that the OFP engine does. If I had to be negative, the thing I would say about Resistance would be to do with the large towns and cities. Everything is laid out too 'box-like'. They are also too un-inhabited. But thats only being picky ;-)

It's a two-rotor (one on top of another) model made by Kamov. It's better known as the Hokum (it's official designation is the Ka-50). It's referred to as a prototype in the game (V80 was the designer's code) and probably doesn't reflect the full capabilities of the Hokum. Regardless, it's a nimble and really fast attack copter and I can't wait to see it used in missions that OFP fans will be churning out. Alas, you don't get to fly it in the game. <span id='postcolor'> I actually got to fly the HOKUM SPOILER********************************** in the mission were u have to destroy enemy choppers, there is a v80 in hangar, took, it destroyed all shilkas and I was the CHAMPION lol
